Back during the dotcom bubble burst, I was working at a tech company that laid off 20% of the staff one day. I was lucky enough to not be one of them. But the founder and CEO of the company was out in the parking lot showing off his *brand new Ferrari* to some of the other company execs while folks were being marched out by security, crying. And he was parked in the spot closest to the front door (because he’s the CEO!) so everyone had to walk right by him on the way to their own cars.
That was my first time thinking “wow, rich people sure are fucking scumbags”.
