A little perspective might be warranted. My ancestors were slaves…this country has weathered far worse storms than a second Trump term. This sort of rhetoric is unnecessarily demoralizing.

  2. Establishment Dems like Obama are a big reason we’re in this situation to begin with? So maybe he should stfu.

If Dems get power again the whole first term is gonna have to go at preventing this shit from happening again. All these failsafes supposedly in place to prevent a president from devolving into a dictator are useless when they just go along with what dear leader wants. There’s headlines all the time talking about all the illegal shit trump is doing or ignoring court orders etc… if no one’s gonna enforce anything it it’s useless

  4. Obama’s letting ambitious surrogates speak platitudes for him while the pundits spin their narratives. Fortunately, none of that will interfere with his social calendar.

  5. It’s going to depend on one thing, the midterms. Regardless of Republican efforts to gerrymander or suppress voting,, there has to be a blue tsunami after all this stuff they’ve been pulling Otherwise it will either mean republicans were successful at rigging/canceling elections or it will mean that significant numbers approve of what they have been doing. Either way the USA will be finished.

sounds like an important article. Any reason such important articles are always the paywalled ones? Like, legacy media doesn’t actually give a fuck to this country, perhaps?

  7. And Obama was in large part completely complicit; refusing to get involved in the primary politics of 2016, and then putting his thumb on the scale for Biden behind the scenes undermining a Populist-Left movement.

Don’t let establishment Democrats like Obama act as if they are dismayed. THEY have been part of the problem which enabled Donald Trump. Obama lost 1,000s of seats nationwide during his presidency because he refused to use the bully pulpit as president and he always pretended that the Republicans were acting in good faith, which they never were.

  8. The damage is already done, populist irrational politics with a massive dose of grift is the norm now.

  9. The American People need to rally like never before

The Constitution-loving judges need to fight like they are soldiers on the frontline, like it is WW3, because they are

We need to seriously consider bipartisan impeachment of Supreme Court Justices

  10. This is the leadership the Dems provide – sorry guys, nothing we can do, good luck.

I’m so fed up with them.

  11. Stop kidding yourselves, democrats will do nothing if they get in power again. They will probably not going to be able to

You guys have it all wrong. What you don’t understand is the deep state has been running our country for 50 years now. Maybe longer. The country is fucked and has been since w

The best time to speak up is yesterday. God I hope Obama starts hammering Trump. Trump MUST be dealt with

  14. Why should the Dems get power again? They haven’t done Anything to earn. Maybe we deserve what we are getting.

I think it’s absolutely pathetic how the Dems have not responded and rather think they have only contributed to this mess. We aren’t going to just wish our way out of this current nightmare.

  15. There are no “safeguards” you could possibly put in place to prevent democratic collapse if a large enough portion of the country is determined to cause it.

Democracy means the peaceful transfer of power, no matter what. The only way to prevent fascism, when the opposition is determined to cause it, is to cause it yourself first. But then that’s…. Still democratic collapse!! That’s still fascism! It’s just the good guys doing it.

Half the country wants democratic collapse, so we will all get it. The only way we could have stopped them was to become fascist first, and illegally deny them their rights to take control of our democracy after they genuinely won the election.

This is why I don’t believe democracy is compatible with modern technology. The creation of the internet was the beginning of the end. If information has become so fragmented that people are living in literal different realities, democracy can never function. It only works if all participants allow it to. There is simply no way to democratically “force” people to act in good faith. No law, no policy platform.

The future is rule by force.

It’s pretty infuriating to see people who not only perpetuated the system that allowed this, but expanded it, and then apparently never thought that someone may use it against the very people they swore to protect.

People insulated by wealth and power never feel true regret

  17. He should say he’s thinking of running again… and that would shut up all the talk of Trump running again since Republicans would all have to admit it’s unConstitutional.

Yeah no crap. America couldn’t handle electing an intelligent well spoken black man to the Whitehouse and, in the absolute most literal sense, could not emotionally recover from it. Would literally rather stop existing.

  19. Why is he resorting to fearmongering when the stock market is at all time high, retail sales is incredibly strong and the gdp gap between US and China and EU continues to widen?

  20. All along I felt like neither Obama or Biden did enough to fight against this. Now we are here.

Independent here. The dems better quit the infighting and get behind the popular candidates in each state. If Mamdani in NY and Platner in Maine are the popular choice then get behind them! Keep in mind that what’s considered left here is centrist in most progressive countries.
