I’ve often found it baffling the amount of people who believe the stock market is the economy. They aren’t the same thing.
He’s never been a curious person, so when he hears what he wants to hear he is 100% satisfied. He is quite insulated from facts because he’s being manipulated by everyone on his staff for their own personal grifts. Confrontations like this go this way because he genuinely has no clue what’s actually going on.

Nobody knows more about groceries than Trump. He even invented the term “grocery”!

He hasn’t purchased his own food in decades if ever, to the point where he thought the word “groceries” was obsolete. He’s a malignantly narcissistic billionaire and lifelong child of privilege who is 79 years old and declining mentally, he isn’t capable of either rationally or empathetically considering what it’s like to go to the store and not have enough money to pay for food. The idea that there are people who have to count how much money they have before they can decide what to purchase to eat is literally unfathomable to him. To him it’s all just pretend, so why not claim it’s lower, who could possible know?
If you lie enough times, it makes it true. At least in his mind, that is what he believes lol. I remember when the stock market was tanking under trump, suddenly it is not an indicator of anything. But now it means everything.
He looks to shake up the market so his people can make a profit. Pretty much acknowledged it too.
The stock market is also not going to stay great. It can not sustain the current growth. There’s only a finite amount of money. The feds are lying when they say it’s not a bubble. But you know what will happen is when it crashes the ultra rich will still make money. trump will lie to the people while secretly telling his rich buddy’s the truth and do the opposite. He’s doing it right now by saying grocery prices are down. They will move their money while telling you not to move yours. Then they will have your money.
I’m hoping the tantrum is leaked worldwide.
Trump and all of the rest of the Republicans wouldn’t last a week if the USA had even a center-right media let alone a centrist or left-wing one.
All they would have to do is put Trump [or one of the GOP minions] on TV and say: “You said 15 Covid cases and it would go to zero, but more than 1.25 million Americans are now dead from the virus. You were wrong.” And don’t let Trump or any of them say another word. While at the same time run a banner across the screen – or top of the paper or website – running the tens, if not hundreds of thousands of lies Trump and the GOP have made; the media should break the number of lies out into day, week, month, year to put it all into context.

The proper way to frame the question is to ask him what he says to people at the supermarket who know it’s a fact that they paid less for milk, bread, eggs, potatoes on January 20th than they do today. Make him call his base liars and then use his response in a town hall to highlight the lie.
Give him some credit … we’d all be still calling it the “food buying store” if he hadn’t brought back the term “grocery” late last year.
