    >New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani (D) said that voting for Andrew Cuomo is akin to voting for President Trump.

    >“Donald Trump has hand-picked his candidate. That candidate’s name is Andrew Cuomo,” Mamdani told MSNBC’s Ari Melber in an interview that aired Monday. “And New Yorkers have the chance to hand pick their fighter. And I believe that candidate should be me.”

  2. Guaranteed if Cuomo wins it will because Trumps endorsement swung enough Republican voters to change to Cuomo. NYC will be allowing the national guard and ICE to run rampant if Cuomo wins.

Even if he didn’t say it, it would still be true because Trump endorsed Cuomo so hard he’s doing some hamfisted mob extortion threat on his behalf.

  4. Trump did say he likes Cuomo better than Mamdani and he wants Cuomo to win. To me, that reads as “Cuomo and I have talked and he will do whatever I want if I urge republicans to vote for him.” or he would have said “Vote for the republican I’m endorsing” when he was asked about the race.

  5. This is the difference between democrats and Republicans Trump will do anything to get his way even support an independent whose policies don’t perfectly align with his, while Obama won’t even endorse zohran.

Democrat leadership do not represent us unfortunately

And it’s pretty evident when you see the massive propaganda campaign on platforms like Twitter where conservative “influencers,” talking heads and mouthpieces for the current administration are all pushing the same fearmongering rhetoric and narratives about Mamdani.

When these insufferable culture warriors aren’t accusing him of being some “jihadi terrorist,” they’re calling him a “communist” and building up this strawman to attack because it’s easier than being informed and critiquing his policies in a civilized or sensible manner.

The MAGA horde sound exactly like the hysterical conservatives and religious fanatics of the past who were propagandized by the red scare and proceeded to facilitate a nationwide moral panic..

History is repeating itself. Their rhetoric and behavior resembles the same feverish conduct of those long ago lunatics who once supported an exhaustive and oppressive crusade that aggressively cracked down on all the cultural boogeymen they were conditioned to fear.

Note that despite all the Republican fearmongering, Mamdani’s favorability ratings are much higher among his voters compared to Trump. There has also been an indication of support for more leftist and progressive candidates in response to the MAGA authoritarian movement.

Now, what’s really ironic about all of this, is the number of striking similarities between these Christian Nationalists/religious fundamentalists and the “Muslim extremists” they loathe so damn much. Side by side, they’re mirrors of each other.

It’s also pretty damn hypocritical of the “religious right” to refer to Mamdani as some kind of ideological or religious extremist when they are the same people whose policies, actions and rhetoric more closely resemble the stuff of actual religious extremism.

In reality, Mamdani’s platform focuses on practical policies that aren’t linked to any sort of religious ideology.

Their mindless culture war scruples and their grievance politics are rooted in islamophobic stereotypes.

Mamdani has publicly condemned anti-Semitism, you can’t say the same of conservatives who pander to the multitudes of white supremacists, conspiracy theorists and neo-nazi groups who disproportionately vote Republican.

Conservative “Christians” are constantly lamenting their oppression and persecution at the hands of some secularized society and anti-christian, make-believe boogeyman, but they’re the ones discriminating against others for *their* religious beliefs.

The right complains that they are “under attack” merely because of their religious views and affiliations. But they’re the ones using dehumanizing language and vilifying and attacking Mamdani because of *his* religion.

And the hypocrisy goes far beyond that as well because while they mourn their victim status, they’ve also shown support for upending democracy by negating Mamdani’s win or forcibly removing him from the country.

It doesn’t get any more despicable and un-American than that.

I think I finally get why some people hate democrats like cuomo. At the end of the day they are just like trump – only interested in power and money. And they all use racism to their advantage.

  8. Considering Trump endorsed cuomo, mamdani isn’t wrong. Cuomo is everything wrong with the status quo, a convicted felon believing he is above the law.
