The guy got in the first time off of name recognition. There’s a certain sleazy charm, yes, but it’s easy to say it should be an easy win when you don’t really get the headstart he had there. It’s not like Trump was just famous, he was one of the most famous men in the country who up until that point had a general reputation as a bit of a fun rogue. Many people are still voting based on liking The Apprentice 20 years ago.
2024? Sure you can look at it as a complete Democratic failure…or be honest and admit changing horses midstream in an election year the globe saw an anti-incumbency wave was a pretty tall order. It’s been a year and we’re sitting here thinking about simultaneously invading Nigeria, Venezuela, and a dozen major American cities. Deporting citizens to fuckin Sierra Leone because? Fuck em I guess.
