ATCs are in high demand around the world and the profession offers an easy path to citizenship in many countries. I can’t imagine putting up with this BS when you could be in a country that respects and pays the position well with friendlier labor laws. If I was an ATC, I’d be rolling out without hesitation.

What’s absurd to me is is we’ve accepted there’s a thing such as legal strikes.
Bullshit; a strike should be aggressive, disruptive and absolute in its effect. It shouldn’t be agreeable to the government or to the company… that’s entirely antithetical to its point.
Until workers unionise, and force those unions to be representatives of their interests and not the companies or the governments, American standards of workers pay and rights are what one will end up with.
That the ATC union is anti-strike should lead them to be wiped out and replaced with a genuine union with a spine.

So many people in this thread are asking the ATC to take the bullet for them, and that’s unrealistic and cruel. It’s places the blame on the ATC for not ending the shutdown. The ATC are people with families and their own trials and tribulations, and they would be the ones to bear the consequences. People focus on the part of the golden rule that says to treat others how you want to be treated, but it also includes that if it would be right for others to do, then it would be right for you to do, and you should do so for others. Keyboard warrioring that the ATC solve your problems and instead figure out how your can help. To say you are powerless is to be powerless.

I 100% want a strike. No one should work for free, for any length of time, for promises from a fat orange boy who’s known for not paying his workers.
Also, I don’t mind flying for my job (which I do frequently) but I mind flying when there’s tired and unpaid ATC workers. I don’t need to die for my job. I’d imagine 60+% of air passengers are traveling for work and I’m sure they feel similarly.
