  1. Let’s just keep showing examples of before and after prices of marketplace healthcare prices, yeah?

Sticking to your guns is one thing, sticking to a message is another. Show people what republicans won’t negotiate or discuss.

It seems fairly obvious. They swept election day and Trump is wonking about the filibuster. They have the upper hand, if they squander it at this point they’re effectively useless as political opposition.

  3. Oh god. This again. “Democrat confidence” based on “strategy” keeps fucking us over.

Remember how Epstein was a an effective pressure point for justice until Democrats saw it working and then got in their head about it and turned it into a meme? That’s going to happen again.

We’re not doing a “shutdown” as a tactic. We’re simply not allowing ourselves to be exploited… because there is no other option and we’re not pussies. Two parties disagree about how the government should be run, and mo compromise has been reached because Republicans refuse to come to the negotiation table. That’s what this is. Sticking to human rights principals is not a “strategy.”

But the moment Dems see sticking to principles working, they change what they’re doing and lean into the tactic instead of remembering what this was all about.

I worry that “success” is going to fuck things up again.

Good. Keep it up. The GOP can kick and scream all they want, but the reality is that when you control the government it’s on you to get the votes you need to get things done, even if that means compromising with the other side. That’s the entire point of the filibuster, which the GOP refuse to kill. They can’t simultaneously defend the filibuster and blame Dems for actually using it.

  5. Maybe it’s time for Republicans to swear in Rep. Grijalva and vote for healthcare credits, instead of flopping around acting like they have no choices here.

  6. Or, and just hear me out here, we could see what writing a sternly worded letter accomplishes???

    🥴

    Conspiracy theory:

Heritage foundation let this happen to give us confidence that elections are fair and then rug pull the midterms

  8. Literally was speaking to a young Trumper yesterday for our semi-frequent ribbing. He said the one thing he agees with Dems on is healthcare. He’s also now realizing the billionaires are screwing everyone. But he specifically said the one thing Ds are right on is healthcare- I know Pelosi always strategized to lead with that. And if this dude who is in the brosphere is on our side for the issue I think Dems finally picked the correct battle.

They need to get Schumer and Jeffries out. Now that Nancy is retiring it’s time to shift to a younger demographic

  10. Christ what a shit headline. Ooh okay, the government shutdown is now “the democrats’ strategy” and not a complete failure of the Republican leadership to actually lead

  11. People finally believe Democrats for a change, keep telling them the truth and we’ll get out of this

  12. “strategy” makes it seem like millions go hungry for political advantage. That isn’t the look you want.

  13. This headline is such bullshit. Designed to make it seem like Dems are happy with the shutdown. Fuck The Hill, Sinclair owned propaganda.

  14. Let it ride Dems, lets those people get those increased ACA prices for next year. My sons is going up over 450% a month, from $151/month to almost $700/month. Insane.

    Good!

Hammer affordability and healthcare. Crow until you’re Democrat blue in the face.

Immigration, rampant corruption, the economy and tariffs, and Isreal are important issues but they all take a backseat to affordability and healthcare.

Everyone can *feel* that and know Republicans are 100% the cause of their misery. Trump literally brought the country BACK to fucking Covid without a global pandemic. Well… Republicans are the pandemic but you guys get it.

  16. encrypted-signals on

The Republicans are responsible for it, so making them own it is just common sense. Don’t give in until they’re willing to negotiate in good faith, which will probably be never.

  17. Now they need to fill on detail gops designation of health care! Each horrific detail. Big bill boards.
