  1. Keep in mind, he had the support of Sanders and AOC, which is a small, but noteworthy establishment of its own. There are a few others in that group.

  2. Now we need hundreds, thousands, of Mamdanis everywhere. In every city of every state. We need senators, congresspeople, state legislators, local officials, judges, the president, and community leaders all to share a vision of prosperity and opportunity to all Americans.

    >*took on the entire political establishment — and won*

So did Donald Trump in 2016, and look at how shitty that’s turned out.

Mamdani is just another over-promising and under-delivering populist like Trump is/was, only for the other side of the political spectrum. His mouth, just like Trump’s, wrote a lot of checks during the campaign that his ass, in all likelihood, can’t cash now that he’s in office.

Mamdani’s campaign was full of “Mexico will pay for the wall”-style pie-in-the-sky promises, some of which were simply wishful thinking and others which were outright lies….just like Trump’s “say anything to get elected” strategy. Bullshitting people who desperately WANT to believe in you actually works. Trump is still doing it every day.

In before the neoliberals show up screaming “but the democrats staunchly supported him from the start, what the hell do you mean?!?!”

  5. now will the Democratic party replicate Mamdani’s success (boots on the ground, people-first economic policy, anti-zionist, anti-billionaire) or try to make cheap centrist copies of his aesthetics only?

my faith in the dems is at an all time low. DSA might really save us if they can give us genuine Mamdanis across the nation

  6. It’s starting to look like he’s going to receive an Israel payday according to some new information.

It’s not looking as great as it originally was

  7. He won the first couple battles. They’re going to try to stop him from enacting his agenda and I hope he succeeds in spite of it.

    The Mamdani Method:

    1. Identify a few common, high-priority problems.
    2. Address said problems with concrete policy proposals that sufferers find helpful.
    3. Win election based on those ideas.
    4. Have media wonder how this could have happened.

  9. Good on him, but I mean, are people really looking at that NYC mayor ballot and wondering how he won? lol

  10. He’s won a battle so far, but he has a long road ahead, he’s hopefully the first of many to take positions in government that a, again, hopefully for the people and not easily corrupted by bribes or sudden party switches.

  11. And you can’t even talk about him on the democrats sub because they’re addicted to their losing strategies.

    oh GOD

If his opponent had been anyone but Cuomo he would have lost. Badly.

However he got a golden opportunity. I wish him the best. Including Jews on his staff was very smart.

Edit: Just kidding! Mamdami is the best thing since BernieSanders/RonPaul/whatever unwashed pig Reddit is obsessed with right now.

  13. He’s a good candidate and had a well run campaign, but I believe his win reflects the will and mood of the voters more than anything else.  People are sick of being “forced” to choose between deeply flawed and corrupted “establishment politicians” and he represents something better, something we could have had all along, too
