News snippet: US airlines again canceled more than 1,000 flights on Saturday, the second day of the Federal Aviation Administration’s order to reduce air traffic because of the government shutdown.
So far, the slowdown at many of the nation’s busiest airports hasn’t caused widespread disruptions. But it has deepened the impact felt by what is now the nation’s longest federal shutdown.
“We all travel. We all have somewhere to be,” said Emmy Holguin, 36, who was flying out of Miami on Saturday to visit family in the Dominican Republic for the week. “I’m hoping that the government can take care of this.”
Analysts warn that the upheaval will intensify and be felt far beyond air travel if the cancellations pick up and move closer to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Only in Trump’s America can a government shutdown be so ‘successful’ it manages to ground half the country before Thanksgiving.

It’s past time to recognize that the devastating impact of Trump’s policies on American democracy, economy, industries, healthcare, education, and politics are not just because he is incompetent, but because he is actively trying to tear down our country. He betrays his supporters and opponents alike, weakens every aspect of our lives, and destroys our relations with other countries. Trump and his minions are doing more damage to America than could be wrought by a foreign adversary.

Be ready, there’s more bad news to come due to the next few years of Donald (TACO) Trump occupying the White House because he’s about to cause a way more damage than he’s already caused and it’s going to be a real disaster in the making.

Private jets should be the first thing canceled. No more flying billionaires. This shut down would end tomorrow. LOL

How do these international agreements work? Is there any chance they have the balls to cancel anything international eventually?

They don’t understand one thing, is that no matter what happened eventually people would blame the one that’s in power aka the GOP.
That’s the advantage of being an opposition party, which eventually whatever bad things happen can be blamed on the governing party. The GOP has been doing that a lot for the past 4 years, just now the table turned

Over 1,000 flights have been canceled, yet the grifter-in-chief jets off to Florida. Since it doesn’t affect him, he doesn’t care.

Flying is a first-world privilege. We do not *need* to fly. Nobody is going to die if the Director of Sales misses a trade show in Indiana. There was a problem with air traffic controllers before the shutdown (my nephew is in college and interned at an airport this past April over spring break). This is not a reason to give in to the thugs.
Keep it going. Run those jerk offs into the ground. Let them show the world how heartless and ruinous they are. Let them suffer the consequences of their cruelty.
Edit: he interned as a shadow at an air traffic control center. Kinda relevant.

This is not just families trying to get home to grandma for thanksgiving. FedX UPS the postal service and bulk air freight carriers, anything you needed bad enough to pay for air shipping may or may not arrive in time. Consider air ambulance and medical supplies. You are not getting that kidney when they ground stop everything the airport.

I know they’re required to work, but they should ground all flights and walk. They could be the turning point to this story.

Hopefully that includes flights from Florida to NY so I don’t have to deal with my bigoted parents during the holidays.
