  1. Yeah but these guys lie all the time.

MAGA leaders are using transportation and hunger as leverage to get democrats to enable their brutal billionaire-pleasing budget.

It’s not really a fair fight. Democrats care about regular people and republicans don’t.

and Trump would rather build his ballroom and dance than lead with human sympathy and kindness. Com’on man! Reopen your government and take care of your citizens

I read an article recently about the insanely rigorous process to train and hire new ATCs. We basically never fully recovered from Reagan’s bullshit, and losing a bunch in the short term like this will completely fuck up the process for another few decades.

I love it. Trump is permanently hurting the travel industry. Talk about repercussions!

  5. The Democrats have a huge opening here. Offer to re-open the government in exchange for doubling of ATC salaries and a new program to train x amount of ATCs within the next 4 years. I’m tired of hearing about those poor folks, burned out, taking care of our skies all the time. And then they’re the ones getting hosed every time these stupid shutdowns happen. Do something practical , Congress!

  6. Interesting to note here that Canadians are pioneers at remote ATC operations. NAV Canada is a privately-run non-profit corporation that runs all air-traffic control operations in Canada. A few years ago they developed technology to remotely run towers… operators can sit anywhere in the world and be surrounded by live radar and camera feeds from towers at any properly-equipped global airport. This allows airfields in developing areas in to increase capacity, increases shift flexibility, and also allows areas with staffing shortages to instantly supplement with qualified workers.

It would be interesting if the net effect of all this is that the US ends up outsourcing all of this work to a Canadian company. Also: if you’re an American tower controller or other industry professional who isn’t getting paid, consider sending your resume to NAV. There are English-language positions available. People in this industry are highly in demand, and Canada is a pretty chill place to live. Experienced ACC controllers can make roughly $200K/yr plus pension and benefits in a unionized environment. 7. It’s funny how Duffy doesn’t have squat to say about Musk and his DOGE cronies throwing the first turd in the ATC punch bowl.

This clown keeps commenting on this ongoing disaster like he’s a completely uninvolved party.

Does he even know he’s the Transport secretary? Anyone competent in this job would be freaking out about the ramifications.

  9. I am starting to believe this conspiracy theory that shortly Elon is going to swoop in with the “AI solution” to Air Traffic Control.

but even so, it will take extended months minimum to get that software up and running.   I just can’t understand how doing this here and now can help them.

  10. Have they thought about replacing them with AI? That couldn’t possibly go horrifically wrong, could it?

  11. I wonder what line of work they’re going into. Or are they leaving the country where possible?

  12. Make America Travel By Wagon Again!!

    Are we great yet, conservatives?

Trump ordered states to zero out ebt card balances.

Why are Americans making trump hurt them? This is all our fault for being so insolent and not letting King Trump repeal the ACA

  13. The power air traffic controllers have is imense.

Dont pay us. Ground everything. Walk out.
Try to fuck us over? Same shit will happen.
