Because the moderates. “If you cater to the progressives you lose the moderates” has become the rallying cry and eternal threat of those petulant children.

  2. Because we insist on bringing the best casserole to a gun fight.

Current democrats are weak and unpopular. This is THE opportunity for progressives and the anti-establishment to launch a tea party like movement. Failure to pretty much secures corporate centrist control

  3. I just looked. Chuck Schumer is up for reelection in 2029.

We’ll have to put pressure on other Senate Democrats to remove Schumer. I want the press to ask him did him know many voters want him to be removed from leadership in the senate.

But again, the other thing you have to keep in mind is this is also class struggle. They’re trying to keep maga from winning but also the progressives down because their absolute worst must not happen scenario is that we finally manage to elect people who will fix the economy so it isn’t just a safe haven for the ultra rich

  5. More details from [another site](https://prospect.org/2025/11/11/one-weird-trick-to-get-rid-of-chuck-schumer/):

    >Under the Rules for the Democratic Conference, members can make rule amendments by submitting proposals directly to the conference for consideration, with one week of notice, Schuman said.

    >The language comes toward the bottom of the rules in Section 14, which is titled “Committee on Conference Rules,” referring to an internal committee of senators who set the standards for the Democratic caucus. It states that committee members, whose names are not made public, will review the rules each Congress, “and may recommend changes to the Rules as the need arises.”

    >It also states that “Individual Members of the Conference may bring proposed changes in the Rules to the Committee on Conference Rules or directly to the Conference for its consideration, providing Members of the Conference with the text of the proposed changes to the Conference Rules at least one week before Conference consideration. In either instance, the Members proposing the changes shall retain sole discretion on the wording of such changes.”

    >What this means is that any member of the Senate Democratic caucus can bring a challenge to Schumer’s continued leadership up for a vote. They would only need a majority of the caucus, or 24 of the 47 members, in order for the vote to succeed.

Because this was orchestrated from the beginning. They got people mad enough to vote last Tuesday and then quickly moved on with the budget so they can campaign on healthcare next year for the midterms. Commercials are already playing. They chose 8 senators that aren’t up for reelction until after the midterms.

The idea that any of them care about anything beyond saving their own hide is laughable these days.

  7. Because democrats don’t represent progressives and the two party system is designed to give a multitude of beliefs a binary choice that doesn’t actually represent anyone.

The last Senate Democrat I felt had a spine in any way and was willing to stand on principle was Al Franken. You saw what his party did to him.

Because Dem “Leaders” (like the GOP) are handpicked by billionaires and wealthy donors to provide the facade of an opposition party. But they are paid to fold and capitulate at the last moment, handing every victory to the Republicans and further along the agenda of the billionaire owners, which is an Anti-Working Class agenda.

The fact Schumer has no opponent reveals the depth of the corruption and rot of the Establishment Democrats. The “D” in front of their names is meaningless, they are paid fighters for the billionaire side of the Class War. They will never stand strong against the status quo, ever. They are paid NOT TO.

  10. It’s not just “progressives.” Even centrist ass democrats like Jon Stewart are sick of his shit.

  11. Mainstream centrist democrats don’t fundamentally have a problem with anything Trump is doing. They only dislike that he’s so tactless and of such low character that he makes a farce of what it is to be in government, which is what these dems really care about.

  12. Negative_Gravitas on

I called my senators yesterday and begged them to relieve this fucking puppet of his leadership role. I urge everyone to do the same.

Some might listen if enough constituents do this. Might.

  13. The current system keeps everyone, who should say something, paid very well and loaded with inside information they can use to make even more money while they are still in the “club”.

American politics are a fuckin’ joke. It’s beyond embarrassing. I don’t know why we don’t just hang a sign on the capitol building that has the prices listed for passing legislation.

  14. Because a majority of the sitting democrats are bought and paid for by big business, and right now, business is good.

  15. From now on when i get an email asking for donations (which i get constantly) I’m going to let them know i’m no longer contributing with the current leadership.

  16. Probably because they know that the “moderate” Democrats will choose the next closest thing to Schumer to replace him, partially defeating the point.

  17. Because if you’re a Senator and you call for Schumer to resign, you will immediately lose any committee assignments, and whatever other power you have.

There aren’t many progressive Senators because they have to win a state-wide senate race to become a Senator, not a safely gerrymandered blue district that’s filled with only Democratic voters.

Senators tend to be more conservative/moderate because they have to attract more conservative/moderate voters to be able to win their elections.

    That’s why.

  19. Dems aren’t nazis, but they are just as bought and paid for. They serve their corporate masters, not you.

  20. Waiting to see what consultants think, then a quick huddle with the lobbyists and then we will learn what they think about Schumer as leader.

This is a massive gift to all primary challengers for the incumbent Senators who are up for reelection. Just say you won’t support Schumer as leader and dare the incumbent to say the same thing. If they do say it then challenge them on why they stayed silent after this fiasco.

All of them should this, we can’t have this level of weakness be the standard.

Because it’s all a grift snd they are all in on it. That’s the reason. These dicks get lifetime jobs lifetime healthcare and lifetime benefits that 90% of the rest of us don’t get. They can also trade stocks with no restrictions that they get to approve or disapprove and make millions. Why Would any of them give that up?
