    * State Rep. James Talarico, D-Austin, during a Friday appearance at the Texas Tribune Festival accused the White House and Congressional Republicans of covering up the Epstein files to avoid embarrassing President Donald Trump.
    * “When did pedophilia become a partisan issue?” asked Talarico, who recently announced he’s running for U.S. Sen. John Cornyn’s seat. “The American people deserve to know the whole truth about Jeffrey Epstein and every single powerful person who enabled him.”
    * Talarico’s comment comes as U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson said he’d schedule a vote to demand the Justice Department release all files related to alleged sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. Until now, Johnson — a Trump ally — had spent weeks opposing the vote.
    * Pressure to hold the vote comes after the House Oversight Committee investigating the Epstein case this week released emails from the late financier containing allegations that Trump “spent hours” with victim Virginia Giuffre and that Trump knew of Epstein’s abuse of underage girls but never participated.
    * Even so, some Republicans continue to advocate against releasing the files, which Talarico, a Presbyterian seminarian and former public school teacher, called hypocritical.
    * *“****These are the same politicians that called librarians groomers****, who called their political opponents pedophiles,”* Talarico said. *“And, to be clear, if there is a Democrat, I will be the first to call for their prosecution, because if there’s one thing we should all be able to agree on — Democrats and Republicans, conservatives and progressives — it’s that no one, including the President of the United States, should be able to cover up crimes against children.”*
    * On Friday, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that she had assigned Jay Clayton, interim U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, to lead an investigation into possible ties to Epstein among Trump’s adversaries.

It became partisan when they finally realized Trump is the worst offender, trafficked girls. They seek cover for themselves and him.

It became a partisan issue when one party’s god king was credibly accused of being one, and then said god king and his many servants and worshippers spent so much time and energy trying to prevent proof of it from coming to light.

  5. It’s not just pedophilia that became a partisan issue. It’s being liable in general that they are making a very selective thing. The pardons are one part, making sure cronies of the Trump regime are not even investigated is the other. At some point it will be practically legal for the “good people” to just shoot others in the streets. In “self defense of a potential future attack” or some bullshit like that. If you think this is absurd, think back what you would have considered absurd just a year ago.

Good question, Rep. Talarico. Maybe it’s because some politicians are more concerned with covering their friend’s tracks than actually addressing the problem?

They dont need to vote.  Someone from congress should have sent everything to the press years ago.
    They are all accomplices.

I don’t understand the right. They keep saying the emails exonerated him, yet why is he pushing so hard against this? 1) if he’s innocent (he’s not) he has nothing to fear, 2) if he’s so sure it’s the left that’ll be incriminated, okay? Release them, it’s in your best interest. According to him, he can only gain from releasing the files.

  9. When did pedophilia become a partisan issue? The answer is November of 2016 when Donald Trump, a pedophile, was elected President of the United States.

And why does it seem like more white Republican Christian males are busted for pedophilia and sexual assault than any other group?

It became a partisan issue when trump hid behind the republican party. But will they let him?

  12. Hey James. Respectfully, you know why this is a thing. Every person raised evangelical that actually breaks out to get educated has reckoned with this and it’s clear you have too. You decided to stay in the faith. Your responsibility now is to call out every single one of your colleagues who are wrapped up in scandals and not abiding by the tenets of Jesus.

(I will do so as an outcast but I’ve got their number).

  13. I mean there is one party that seems to want to keep child marriage on the books as law so…..

You know the final vote to release the files is from Donald Trump right?

    Like that’s gonna happen.

  15. Is he new? They will try to normalize ANYTHING. They will scream at the top of their lungs if a Democrat was caught jaywalking while excusing anything they do. GOP = Gaslight Obstruct Project.

  16. Pedophelia, also referred to as “republican policy”: has always been a part of what motivates the GOP to do pretty much anything. Whether it be blackmailing one another for leverage, or just changing policy to protect their own- it’s always driven their hands and their wallets.

And if anyone thinks this shit just started recently… you clearly were born yesterday.

It’s a cabal. And it runs DEEP.

  17. They aren’t releasing anything. It’s a theatrics. Trump is calling for investigations of Dems and Epstein all to tie up the files in court. Then he’ll say they won’t let him release it.

Reminder that Mike Johnson adopted an 11 year old boy when he was a 25 year old single man.
