  1. The bit I don’t get is what Patel and Bondi think they’re going to do about this. Trump is 79 and really unhealthy; even if the hammer did come down he wouldn’t have all that long to have to experience the fallout. The AG and head of the FBI knowingly covering up his heinous crimes? How the hell do they think they’d ever outrun _that_?

  2. They’ve had nearly a year to scrub his name from “the files” and insert the names of political enemies. At this stage anything coming from tbe DOJ is of no real value.

The dumbest thing about him ordering these investigations into the democrats is that they’ll have to engage in discovery. So it’ll either end up going nowhere to avoid discovery or it will just allow other people to get a hold of incriminating documents. They are scrambling.

  4. Even if they get a majority vote to release them, he will say he can’t because there is an investigation into the Democrats in the files and they cannot be released at this time. He will claim he wanted them released but his DOJ advised that it would interfere with the investigation. That way he can shift blame.

  5. From the story in New Republic:

“Trump just erupted in a furious new tirade about the Jeffrey Epstein fiasco. In it, he ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Epstein’s ties to Democrats. Bondi immediately did his bidding. That Trump has now formally turned the Justice Department loose in this way shows his anger over Epstein has hit new highs.”

Instead of characterizing it as his angriest Epstein tirade, perhaps an experienced journalistic organization might consider the fact that directing Bondi to investigate the Democrats makes all of those files part of an active investigation. The department of justice does not release files that are part of an active investigation. On the heels of announcing the investigation of Democrats in the Epstein affair, Trump tells all the Republicans to go ahead and vote to release the files. Simply because he knows he has tap down the problem of his name showing up in files released by the department of justice. Unfortunately, those files will be part of the department of justice is investigation of all the Democrats involved in the Epstein affair.

  6. Imagine the level of brainpower it must take to say, “investigate the Democrats in the Epstein files” and not understand what all that communicates about you.

But… but… but… he totally, for sure isn’t concerned about the Epstein files. He said so, and he _never_ lies.

I’d bet a big factor in him doing this is the fact that many republicans are going to vote in favor of releasing the files and he doesn’t want the optics of them voting against him. It’s a power play for sure.

  9. Side note – I just find it absolutely crazy how Trump giving direct orders to Bondi in public has been normalized. Anyone remember how outraged conservatives were about that tarmac meeting? Yeah, good times.

  10. Now that he’s ordered Law Barbie to investigate Clinton he has an out: the Epstein files are part of an ongoing investigation – sorry!

My prediction: Files are released with redactions. Poorly executed redactions because MAGA is always sloppy, and probably used an intern. Then they wil cllaim those redactions came from the Biden administration, and their investigation shows the reactions are related to Bill Clinton. The internet will hopefully have made mistakes, the edits will be saved on a server, Trump will accidentally tweet about it, or the signal.chats Will leak.

The next administration should also eliminate any secret service protections from these complicit people. Maybe only give Trump two ss agents. lol

I’ve wondered for a while if Trump’s world is just straight up chaos and filled with those that arrogantly think they can control the chaos for their own gain. This Epstein stuff seems like that. I’ve also noticed that it seems like every few months there is always a person in his orbit embroiled in a scandal of some type. So far, I’m wondering when Tulsi Gabbard’s time will come. She seems to have slipped off the radar.

At this point the “allies” are in it up to their eyebrows and are in as much trouble as he is. Same with our American brown shirts. They are watching this collapse too. They’re going down when he goes down too. And they all know it. A lot of awful people did awful things thinking they would get away with it.

  15. Didn’t this happen yesterday? Or two days ago? I thought we’d moved on to “we’ve got nothing to hide” Trump?

  16. Quirky_Garbage_5789 on

I read somewhere that starting an investigation into some of the democrats involved would technically “open a case” and therefore files can be classified again

  17. If they actually have that vote tomorrow there will be some political casualties on the Republican side.

Bondi is never going to allow the records to be released because she’s “investigating” Democrats involved with Epstein. On the other hand, I do enjoy trump’s flailing. I hope the stress makes him more susceptible to whatever is giving him cankles. If you know what I mean…
