Is the sky falling and armageddon being unleashed?

Or at least that’s what I hear happens from conservatives whenever a social program that benefits the poor is newly implemented.

  2. We should fund and nurture what we value.

This is a no brainer – kids, all kids, need our greatest investment.

If we hold this up as our standard then we can really see if politicians can support it with legislative action.

I will be watching with great interest. This is something that the wealthiest nation on earth should offer to everyone.

This is something that actually helps everyday Americans, so every Republican will oppose it.

Free childcare is so amazing because it’s finally attempting to de-externalize this idea that childcare is a choice. And also recognizing that providing high quality childcare to all provides wide ranging societal benefits and tangible value.

I think ideally we live in a world where we build cities to be support more multi-generational housing and mixed income neighborhoods which would allow more parents to live near their own parents (grandparents) who can watch children. Bring back the idea that it takes a village. And also income inequality doesn’t just mean too many billionaires but also working class isn’t getting paid enough. Single income households isn’t the historical norm (just mid-20th century America). But given productivity gains of workers, it should be more common than it is. We should be supporting the ideal that like a few of the neighborhood parents getting together and watching all the neighborhood kids together is a valuable use of labor vs the professionalized and sterile childcare that many kids get.

All these things together would make us a much nicer society to live in.
