Data extraction, mainly.
Leon ‘backed up’ the databases of the IRS, social security, DMV, health, state department — pretty much all the data the government holds that used to belong to you.
Kill investigations, gut government agencies that regulate things, gut public services for tax breaks for the rich and corporations.
That was the point of doge, and it was very efficiënt at doing those things. Hope this helps!
Wow. I had no idea the United States was in so much debt. Those numbers are crazy.
Prices are at an all time high and climbing higher, tariffs have been slapped on every conceivable product from every country on earth based entirely on how much/little other country’s leaders massage Trump’s ego, housing prices continue to soar, the cost of college continues to explode, childcare is still unaffordable for almost everyone…
I thought Trump was going to magically drop prices the minute he took office, and DOGE would usher in a new era of productivity to the Federal Government. But yet somehow, affordability is still the biggest problem almost 1 year into Trump’s 2nd term, and the Federal Government is deeper in debt than it’s ever been, and rising faster than anytime outside of the pandemic.
Something doesn’t add up.

Any cuts or savings they make (which are always to programs that benefit the poor) is just handed to the rich and pay back to the party donors.
No different from any other Republican administration.
DOGE was a scam, Elon used it to get access to sensitive information, and it was used in a partisan manner to target democrat-friendly organizations for defunding, while doing nothing about the biggest line items in our budget (military and social security). There is no political will to fix our budget, certainly not from Republicans, who are notorious deficit spenders.
If Americans cared about reducing our deficit, reduce spending on military, social security, and ICE, while increasing funding to the IRS. You don’t have to go crazy with increasing the tax rate on the richest, but you certainly shouldn’t be trying to give massive tax cuts to the rich every chance you get. You would focus on growing the economy, so you have a larger tax sum to take a slice of, which means no regarded tariffs that depresses economic activity.

He bankrupted. A casino. A literal money making machine. He bankrupted a casino! Why did anyone think he knew a goddamn thing about money?!

DOGE did succeed in destroying agencies that were investigating crimes by Musk’s companies. And released all private and sensitive data about US citizens into unknown and unsecured hands. The shuttering of USAID will kill hundreds of thousands of mostly nonwhite people. And it helped to shut down the Department of Education, cutting education funding nationwide and causing deep, generational harm to nonwhite and working Americans.
So while its run was cut short, it did achieve exactly the kinds of things Musk wanted from it.
It was BS maga rage bait.

Looking for a balanced casual discussion. Assuming the borrowing rates for the US have been relatively consistent, are we slower to pay off debts or more aggressively spending or both.
The larger the debt, the more interest accumulates, so that’s one factor right? Is this purely this admin or is it, that this admin is also the most recent too?

There was no point, that’s the point. It’s what a third actively campaigned for. The system is broken when it allows someone that stupid to take charge.
