The tariff checks are such a monumentally bad idea. Even two grand would be (at best) a couple month stopgap for people having difficulties. What people really want is wage gains and manageable inflation levels.

They just choose not to allocate money to anything that benefits the people. Don’t ever believe a Republican that says ”we can’t afford XYZ” because it is simply a matter of discretion and priority, and what they really mean is “that isn’t important to us or our agenda”
