Under the UCMJ, military service members are required to disobey illegal orders. Period. It is not Kelly who wrote those

It is literally in the oath that service people take. They are loyal to *The Constitution*, not to any one individual, including the President.

Maga just hates to be told they can’t do a thing, even an illegal thing, it messes with their power signaling scheme.

Appearing weak and powerless is one of their greatest fears, so they gotta maintain the deception. Too bad the rest of us see through the weak display and see the scared sad little men behind it.

Their desperation to appear strong and powerful exposes just how weak and pathetic they truly are.

Ever here about Bread and Circus? This falls into the Circus category. Just more of the constant barrage of distractions while Trump and his wealthy sponsors strip mine America and it’s citizenry.

White House declared them legal. I guess that means they knew they were illegal and had to make them ok.

  6. Kelly has a sensible approach to protect our troops. in contrast, he did not say to walk on up there and become insurrectionists.

  7. I remember taking the oath and still get emotional when I repeat it. “ I swear to defend the constitution of the United States of America from enemies both foreign and domestic. So help me god.” No does it imply that we swear to politicians. The constitution was founded on not allowing politicians to abuse power. There are no kings in America!

  8. Legal and Illegal do not compute for Trump. He’s skated and abused the systems his entire life.

Then the Supreme Court gave Trump immunity for official acts so in his mind an order from him can only be obeyed because it’s not illegal.

Thankfully the soldiers also took both to the Constitution that they have to obey. No backsies.

    “Don’t rape children”

*how dare they suggest such a thing, they need to be punished*

not a great look, but then again, what has this or the first trump admin ever done that was a good look?

“Don’t commit crimes just because someone else told you so.”
    “How DARE you-”

    Christ.

If Kegseth goes through on his threat, he will learn that a regime doesn’t stay in power forever and a federal pardon would not protect him from the same

  12. The same troops certainly attended at least one lecture on the Law of Armed Conflict where they were told the same thing

  13. It is non controversial. I was a soldier and this is one of the first things we were taught. Never comply with an illegal order.

  14. Of course, but… what *is* controversial is the implication that illegal orders are something the troops actually need to worry about with the current administration.

Not *wrong*, mind you, but definitely “controversial”.

Remember how conservatives like to claim the No Kings protests were over nothing? And MAGA zombies would ask you “tell me one thing Trump is doing that makes him a king?”

Well here’s a blatant answer. The official DoJ stance on orders from Trump is that they are “presumed to be legal” and should be followed as such. That means the official stance is that Trump’s word is the law and it will be unlawful to disobey Trump specifically, outside of the Constitution of the United States. That is king behavior. American has no king. America needs no king.

For sure. This could be a PSA issued at any time under any administration. Calling for the death penalty as a response is ridiculous, obviously.

It’s like telling people “it’s not ok to have sex with underage individuals.” Yet here we are Megyn Kelly and all them folks in the Epstein files including one Donald J Trump.
