  1. A bit from the commentary:

    > Unlike Saad and Musk, fundamentalist Christian influencer Allie Beth Stuckey doesn’t see empathy as a failure of evolution. As a creationist who denies the scientific reality of prehistoric dinosaurs, she doesn’t even believe in evolution. And even though she believes the Bible forbids women from being pastors, Stuckey has made it her mission to rewrite the teachings of Jesus so that her savior is a harsh disciplinarian whose “love” has little to do with empathy.

    > “Feeling too much for someone can blind us to reality,” she argued. “It can cause us to ignore the truth, the objective truth, in favor of how a person feels.”
    >
    > What Stuckey asserts as “objective truth” is anything but: That being gay is wrong, that women are meant to submit to men, that immigrants are dangerous to Americans, that trans identities are illegitimate and that the only meaningful racism in America is “anti-white.” In a sense, she is simply reworking a longstanding argument from the Christian right that kindness and compassion are not what Jesus meant by “love.” To the contrary, true Christian love is what looks, to most people, like beating someone into submission. Denying someone equality or basic dignity, this argument goes, may be painful now, but it supposedly saves them from hell, so hatefulness is actually a deeper form of love.

  2. The easiest way to deal with cognitive morons like Allie is to ask a simple question that has comfortably withstood the test of time: “why?”

  3. Republicans are neither American nor Christian, their nationality and religion are the same thing: Republican.  When their leaders tell them to not to care about people they don’t mean fellow Republicans, they mean everyone else who isn’t a Republican.

Jesus didn’t mean love in the modern sense, he meant Tough Love. Immigrant hating tough love Jesus. Fuck you I got mine Jesus.

  5. Jesus was a mystic. Very few people understand what that means. Even fewer MAGA. Heck, his disciples barely understood it.

We live in a time when comparative mysticism scholarship is available, but no one takes advantage of it. If and when Christian Nationalism actually takes firm root, that scholarship will be gone. Comparativism does not appeal to zealots.

No. What she sowed was division based on anything that divides people: race, sexual status, immigration, abortion. All the low life triggers.

  7. Good read. Wild that for all the good we try to do there is this strong current supported by the wealthy to destroy good for profit

  8. Today’s Phyllis Schlafly. (Phyllis cannot be with us today because she is burning in the fiery pits of hell. Fuck you Phyllis.)

  9. She will likely join the rest of the false prophets when her season of lying to humans is through.

It’s wild how a concept based around love, compassion, kindness and empathy can be so wildly distorted and weaponised to preach hate and bigotry. American Christians are an awful bunch of people.

Sorry to those that don’t share the beliefs but maybe it’s on you then to work harder and reclaim your religion from these hateful extremists.

How much of politics is little more than media packaged as brand with the right pitch person. As an advertising creative, I’m amazed how the whole thing reads like an ad campaign: the creation of a product and the subsequent marketing to make it appeal to an audience.

The difference being, for amerikkkan whites who are right leaning and already have the character to cruelty (cruelty/sadism being one of the ways of rationalizing the grotesque levels of injustice and stupidity in this nation), this messaging is falling on fertile ground. White america only needs a slight nudge to embrace the idea that empathy is toxic… further proof that those who push the message are even further outside the long hard fought evolutionary path where empathy, compassion and the collective have been foundational to the species success.

What they believe is ultimately leading to a shutting down of the currents that keep humans moving forward. a society without empathy will only grow more isolated, brittle and stunted.

That’s why they dislike Pope Leo so much — he and his brand of Catholicism is too “woke” for their bloodlust taste.

  13. Funny thing about waging a war on empathy: eventually you need some. The other shoe’s warming in the oven

  14. You can’t abandon the teachings of Christ and still call yourself a Christian. I’ve listened to some horror stories of pastors trying to preach things like the Beatitudes and having these MAGA cultists reject them. They aren’t Christians anymore, they worship money and Trump. They conceal their hatred and bigotry behind the Cross and Bible.

  15. I don’t know if she’s “started the war” since she’s only been around since 2022 or so but its definitely a good analysis of why MAGA is built on the backs of grifters.

Every flapping head that makes us roll our eyes is being rewarded with views, clicks, and cash from the MAGA rank and file. They’ve been the marks since Trump kicked the thing off.
