I don’t believe the tariffs were ever intended to help the economy. They are gimmicks meant to give Trump a pot of cash from American consumers. He can then choose winners and losers.

Who’s panicking? Cause it sure seems like nobody gives a shit. It’s something I simply don’t understand. I used to think that so long as the economy is healthy Trump can get away with anything. It now seems like he can get away with anything even with a shit economy.

No wonder Trump had such a hissy fit over the province of Ontario, Canada releasing the ad of Reagan explaining why tariffs were bad for the US – except in very specific situations. Reagan was absolutely right when it comes to tariffs and trade wars.

It’s the small business owners who are panicking as reflected by the loss of 120,000 jobs, according to ADP report.
Trump/GOP don’t give AF who they hurt as long as the billionaires get even richer.

As an aside, Canada gained 67,000 jobs in October. Doesn’t sound like a lot but keep in mind the US has almost 10 times the population of Canada.
Trump’s tariffs were designed to destroy Canada’s economy – and it’s absolutely hurt – but it’s not working the way he envisioned. Trump’s tariffs on just about every country in the world are doing more damage to the US than they are to anyone else. The US is a huge market but the rest of the world is a much larger market. Other nations are moving on from the US wherever they can, thanks to Trump.

My neighbor owns a small business. All his difficulties this year trace directly to the tariffs.
He’s looking at the worst year ever, closing down levels of bad. And he attributes it all to the tariffs.

We all know this. It isn’t news. They aren’t panicking. They just vomit BS about it and move on. They don’t care about anything that doesn’t effect them, and being wrong or doing wrong these days doesn’t matter to them because no one with authority stops them.

It’s a feature, not a bug. As small businesses close, there is less competition for large businesses or the smaller businesses become easy targets for private equity buyouts. Trump is helping billionaires as usual.
