  1. A bit from the commentary:

    > As Donald Trump deteriorates and his grasp on power fades, he has been lashing out furiously at female journalists and ethnic groups, most recently Somali Americans. His insults land because of their animosity and his power, not their accuracy. Likewise, his administration’s attacks on immigrants are sloppy and driven by lies. It’s strikingly clear that the target is not individuals with criminal records. It’s anyone and everyone guilty of being brown. Native Americans with tribal identification cards, US citizens, people doing crucial work from construction to nursing, military veterans, college students, people sleeping in their own beds, small children: all kinds of residents of this country are under attack.

    > This terrorizing and demonizing pretends to be in service of recreating a white America that never existed. The US when white supremacists like Trump were young was whiter, but this was never a white country. In 1776, the 13 colonies that became the United States included a significant percentage of Black and Indigenous people (some southern states were a third or more Black). When the US annexed Texas in 1844 and then in 1848 took Mexico’s whole northern half, a Spanish-speaking population was already settled across parts of what’s now the south-west and California. The first African Muslim in what is now the United States came in a Spanish expedition almost a century before the Mayflower brought its fanatical Puritans to the shores of Massachusetts in 1620.

    > The persecution of huge numbers of brown people and even the mass deportations will not create the white country of far-right fantasy. Los Angeles, for example is an almost 50% Latino city, and despite the ICE and border patrol outrages, arrests, imprisonments and deportations, it remains so. The city’s very name is Spanish, a reminder of who was here first. All the hatred, all the persecution, seems like the panic of racists pretending they can stop the future of this country no longer being majority white through sheer cruelty.

    > It’s coupled with an attack on reproductive rights that is sometimes openly intended to make white women have more babies (the US has a below-replacement rate birthrate, which is less impactful than in many other countries facing the same decline, because a young, hard-working immigrant workforce keeps things going).

  2. Yeah, but trumps on the way out and a pretty big dumbass. Removing his terrorists wont take long if we apply ourselves.

  3. It’s the ultimate historical fiction project. The most American thing about that fantasy is how it ignores the actual, diverse people who have built, shaped, and been here since the very beginning. The story they’re trying to sell requires erasing the country’s own name on the map.

  4. Yes, everything about this administration comes down to race. Whitey is throwing a tantrum.

White people see what is coming their way and they don’t like it so are doing everything to stop the inevitable.

These are people that think they have gotten the short end of the stick because the brown and blacks were given some help. Trumpians are thinking ‘it isn’t fair’ while having no understanding of just how insanely unfair it has been for the black and brown people of our country.

As I see it, the black and brown people of our country are the hardest working people in America, I say this as a white male.

Racism underlies everything this administration does … along with graft. Shameful.

Every time he describes this imaginary pass, he tells you exactly who he thinks American is for, and who it’s not.

  6. that version only existed in sepia toned textbooks and country songs that skipped the genocide the lynchings and the labor camps

  7. Imagine squatting on someone else’s land and then thinking you have the right to dictate who else can squat with you.

  8. In my mind, he’s already failed because so many people realize that it’s, well, unrealistic. He knows he’s failed too. He has to know that he isn’t the actual leader they’re looking for too.

He knows he’s failed which is why they’ve outsourced Make AMERICA Great Again to India, Nigeria, the Saudis, etc. because those countries are rife with racism and classism. The only people on earth who are so ignorant they have no foresight of the consequences of being openly racist and divisive.

Indians pretending to be white American nationalists in order and getting paid by the trump administration just tells me that they know they’ve lost all public support.

Finally, finally, finally, the true intent of the trump administration is being recognized.

The funny part is those folks of color who would clamor to support this administration and its antics will have the punchline when it turns on them.

Reorganizing a society will have catastrophic effects on this economy and we watching it occur, because, there is no back stop solution – – once the minorities have been re-demonized, we as a society will return to the 1950’s or 1960’s as far as race relations go.

The real issue is the billionaire class and its vacuum on American wealth. That will be the result of this antic.

Anyone that just watched the revolutionary war Ken Burns documentary will know that even the revolutionary war was fought by Native Americans, African-Americans, white people, and people of many other cultures, all standing side by side for one cause. Freedom from tyranny.

The problem is that America went through or I should say has gone through many highs and lows when it comes to racial tension. Trump just envisions America being more like one of those peaks of racism. Where people of color were scared to leave their house and weren’t given equal opportunities or rights.

It existed for him, being a son of a wealthy real estate developer and living in a bubble surrounded by White people, even being in NYC. Also he may be confused about old movies and TV shows and thinking they’re real.

  12. Yeah, that’s what I’ve been saying about MAGA for quite awhile. There never was a town in Carolina without any black people in it and women never did housework in high heels and wearing pearls. They are all trying to return to a past that never existed – it was all a TV fantasy.

The amerikkkan fairytale is built on hate and maybe I am a victim of the hateful propaganda but it would seem that far too many white people actually believe an all white/majority white america would be a “return” to some sort of stability. They just overlook that they still wouldn’t have a decent wage, would work more for less, couldn’t afford a house or dental work if every last POC disappeared.

It’s a simple truth, but the majority white america just doesn’t want to hear it
