Bigger and more beautiful.
I reminded of the bit in decades ago doonesbury where he was the butt of a lot of the jokes as a representative of rich assholes everywhere, and is giving a tour of his yacht, pointing out all the quality items, the quality everywhere. He’s asked:
“And by ‘quality’ you mean obscenely expensive?”
“Of course, is there another definition?”
He’s a cheapskate so not sure that was ever true but he’s definitely thinking big equals better all the time for everything.

And is anyone still wondering why his business ventures fail?

Someone should tell him that (insert perceived rival here) is building a ballroom even bigger and gaudier than his new plan. Get him to freak out and plan an even bigger and more ridiculous ballroom, then tell him (insert different perceived rival here) is planning one even larger. It would be amusing to watch and he’d never get anything built because he’d have to keep upping the ante.
Tiny-Conversation-29 on
Right now, I’m wondering if, by the end of this presidential term, the ballroom will still be “under construction”, with some portions starting to be built, questionable construction quality, several turnovers of architects and construction crews due to disagreements over Trump’s unreasonable/constantly changing demands and his inability to take negative feedback and probably leaving many of them unpaid for their labor.
It’s like a lot of Republican projects I’ve seen in my state: tear down or shut down something that works well and that people like, attempt to appropriate parts for their personal use, promise to replace it with something “better” but fail because they never had a solid concept in the first place and ultimately can’t come up with one, and then leave office with things in tatters and claim victory.

Trump is completely out of touch with regular people, even MAGA folks, and he just doesn’t care.
He’s giving the anti-MAGA movement so much free ammunition. Just play, on repeat, clips of Trump talking about the ballroom followed by clips of him saying that “affordability” is a problem made up by Democrats.
I mean, this thing is never going to be finished, the budget will keep ballooning, and whoever is responsible for cleaning up America will have to deal with this too. It’s just so absurd. Trump’s architect left the project because the president wanted to triple the size of the ballroom. He’s not paying attention to regulations or requirements. Nothing matters to Trump right now except for the optics of being a powerful leader.
In three years there’s going to be a giant hole in the side of the White House and *maybe* the skeleton of a ballroom. Then whoever is elected, God willing, is going to have to solve that problem too. I’d rebuild the East Wing to be as close as possible to the pre-ballroom East Wing for the preservation of history side of things.

When this admin is gone, I say you raise money to restore it back by having a tear it down party.
For $20 (or so), you get a sledgehammer, and 10 swings at the ‘grand ballroom’.
He doesn’t care. I wish the MSM would just say the truth and break the spell. He only cares about himself and is willing to throw anyone under the bus – Fox News, his base, the rest of the GOP – if it gives him an extra cent

Trump ripped down the East Wing without approval, without a plan, and without funding.
100 years of American history erased for nothing but his ego. This vanity project, if it happens at all, is going to drag on for years and cost the American people hundreds of millions of dollars.
This is a lunatic trying so desperately to be remembered as a great man before he dies. He’s slapping his name on every government building he can, he’s obsessed with collecting trophies and awards he didn’t earn, he’s trying to put up monuments to himself on tax payer dime.
It’s all so fucking pathetic this is where our presidents priorities are and the republican controlled congress is just like “Yeah! I think he totally deserves it!”
FUCK YOU!! Fuck you. Every single branch of our government has failed at every level to keep a mad king in check. We now have concepts of a free country but it only protects the people who run it and their wealthy donors.
