    From the article:

Colin Allred said he is dropping out of the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate nomination in Texas and will instead run for a newly drawn congressional district in the state.

“In the past few days, I’ve come to believe that a bruising Senate Democratic primary and runoff would prevent the Democratic Party from going into this critical election unified against the danger posed to our communities and our Constitution by Donald Trump and one of his Republican bootlickers Paxton, Cornyn, or Hunt,” Allred said in a statement on Monday.

“That’s why I’ve made the difficult decision to end my campaign for the U.S. Senate.

Good. Beto should also withdraw from the race and let Talarico and Crockett duke it out.

Edit: Beto isn’t running as of this moment. I heard talk about him running again but that is not the case.

I wonder if this means Crockett is going to run and that the primary will come down to her vs. Talarico. She reportedly asked Allred to step down to make room for her run, so this would make sense. Allred might have just seen he wouldn’t beat Talarico and dropped out instead.

Personally would prefer to see Crockett stay where she is and have Talarico run in this cycle but whomever wins the primary between the two is a good candidate.

  4. This is what playing the long game looks like. Smart decision. Now, the primaries are less crowded and some of the other rising stars have a better chance.

We just gotta get Texans out to vote.

  5. This makes more sense. Colin was a little too centrist for my taste but just blue dog enough to flip a poorly gerrymandered seat away from the greedy GOP.

  6. Allred must know Crockett is going to enter the race. When she dies the nomination is herself. Allred did want to waste tens of millions plus his time just to lose the primary.

  7. Now I just hope Crockett doesn’t run. She is polling slightly better than Talarico against Paxton right now, but Talarico’s real strength is that he polls the same against Paxton as against Cornyn, so he’s really the only one with a chance to win regardless of who the Republicans nominate. If we knew Paxton were going to be the GOP nominee, I think Crockett would be better, but since we don’t know and the Republican primary looks to be quite close, Talarico is the best choice.

  8. he bailed on texas senate but better believe he’ll still want our votes later. classic

I think this is a shot at Crockett lol But the primary is about to get really interesting when Crockett announces today.

  10. Tarlarico reminds me of Jimmy Carter. God we could use a good dose of decency and togetherness right about now.
