It would be great if we could also block putting Trump’s face next to George Washington’s on the National Park Pass for 2026.

It’s all about the grift. The more interesting question is where the surcharge on a Trump commemorative coin would go. It is usual for commemorative coins to have a surcharge of at least $5 for copper-nickel coins (half-dollars), $10 for silver dollars, and up to $50 for gold coins. This may have been increased in recent years.

Having a living person on a commemorative coin is not without precedent. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was depicted on the obverse of the Special Olympics commemoratives in the 1990s. The mint had a series of First Ladies gold coins that I believe at last PLANNED to mint one for living First Ladies. The line is coins that are expected to circulate.

‘da fuck? There’s already an existing law prohibiting this which he is ignoring…

  5. This administration is nothing more than a bad reality show featured on some small town cable access channel.

I’m not really sure why we should give a shit about this when the economy is in a tail spin.

But then the democrats had congressional republicans and the WH by the balls for 40 days and just decided to give up.

The WH was literally having to go in front of a judge and explain why they’re taking away food from people.

But yeah let’s spend all of our energy talking about a commemorative coin.

  7. Every day it becomes obvious that Trump is sunsetting and wont be here much longer, so he’s doing scorched earth and putting his name and mark on everything he can before he croaks. He wants us to remember him as much as possible.

Dear dozy Don, we won’t forget you. You just will not be remembered in the way your pea brain wants us to. No need to put your name on everything. We will not forget. — We the People of the United States of America

This does not require legislation. It’s been illegal since 1866. All Congress has to do is actually enforce the law.

  9. I frankly find it hilarious that he wants to put himself on the 2nd least used coin in existence (presumably after the half-dollar)

It probably has to do with the golden hue/finish of the coin and nothing else

  10. This is awful and I don’t want it to happen, but it’s just one of many many awful things. I think it’s stupid the hills they choose to climb and die on.

If this happens I will be the pettiest asshole ever. I will never hold currency with stupid fucking mug on it. I’d rather carry a backpack full of pennies.
