Republican voters are growing noticeably less confident in Donald Trump’s economic stewardship, a troubling shift for a president who has long cast himself as the party’s chief dealmaker and financial fixer. A new AP-NORC poll shows GOP approval of Trump’s handling of the economy has dropped nine points since March—a slide that underscores weakening trust in what was once once of his strongest political assets.

The decline among Republicans—from 78 percent approving of Trump’s economic approach in March to 69 percent now—comes as overall public approval of his economic agenda sinks to a record low of 31 percent. The erosion suggests that frustration with persistent inflation, concern over Trump’s escalating tariff strategy, and pessimism about the pace of economic recovery are cutting into his base’s support.

He says it’s the best economy ever. He even gave himself a A++++++++ during a recent interview. He also called affordability a hoax.

Of course his economy is in shambles.

Nothing like a war to bring Americans together. And Trump’s biggest wish will be that a lot of American soldiers die (through a fluke, lucky missile, false flag, whatever), as that is absolutely proven to make Americans ally rally behind their dictator.

  4. The general approval needs to drop below 30% only when that happens will we be able to actually see the dam break on this madness. I also imagine if it gets to sub 30 it will crater even further soon after. Eventually nobody you talk to will have ever been a Trump voter everyone will claim they opposed him at every turn. Luckily unlike the Nixon days so many of these people are on video forever praising the guy. It should be a stain that follows folks their whole lives.

What’s frustrating is that all of the evidence made it very clear that this WOULD happen. But Republicans don’t believe anything unless it actually DOES happen and happens to them specifically.

Can you fathom the outrage? Just think: they’re white, and STILL their costs are going up! What the fuck is this shit?!

  6. The only question is when the wallet issues begin to override the cultural issues. Once that inflection point is reached the blue flood gates will be opened.

“Inflation took root during pandemic and no president could deliver a rapid fix,” says local idiot. But Biden leading the world’s best recovery wasn’t good enough for you.

  8. 9 points since March, or a point per month? Sorry if I don’t consider that a “nosedive”. I get sensationalism gets clicks, but this verges on misleading.

  9. They can lie and propagandize about COVID “Oh, grandpa died from pneumonia, COVID was a hoax” “those refrigerators trucks full of dead? Hoax. The mass graves? Hoax. Masks were stupid and pointless and the vaccine didn’t work. We’ve all read the BS.

But, there’s no amount of propaganda and lies they can tell that will make your $10’s produce $20’s of buying power in the grocery line. Last year, people knew they could sometimes have a steak dinner, this year, they’re priced out and their health insurance premiums in some places have doubled. There’s no way to lie or delude yourself out of that. Everyone is going to feel those effects in very real ways that directly impact their lives, an no amount of pointing at the one trans woman playing backyard competitive tiddly-winks is going to add extra portions of potatoes to your plate when tummy’s start rumbling.

  10. If only they had the foresight to recognize that they would have eventually come to this conclusion. I did.

  11. To be fair, if economics were actually important to a Republican they never would have voted for a Republican. It’s always a drain on the economy.

  12. 69 percent of GOP voters in the survey still approve of Trump’s handling of the economy.

    lol

I am sure it took the economy to hurt them personally for them personally to actually give a fuck.

Remember, the “conservatives” voted for a guy that was a train wreck the 1st time. They did it because he promised to hurt others. He spoke innsuch a way that the message was clear that he was going to seek revenge, and really harm others that “conservatives” feel do not meet their judgemental standards for what a person should and should not be. They want to control your personal lives. They are deeply interested in what you are doing in your personal life. They are okay with oligarchy, and tyranny so long as they get to tell others what to do.

The “conservatives” that have turned against Trump with their disapproval is only happening because something Trump did while he was attacking marginalized people, minorities, and pretty much anyone that doesn’t kiss the ring hurt them personally. These same people would gladly support him if he was able to harm you, me, your friends and family so long as they were able to avoid accountability. Because they are no longer able to avoid the harm they wished upon others, they are now disapproving of Trump and his idiocy. Yet the man has always been an idiot. They like to act like they didn’t know. It is a lie. They just want to avoid accountability. Mark my words, they are cheering for the harm being caused as long as it isn’t brought to them personally.

Whenever I see these headlines I read the article and it’s something like:

“Trump’s approval rating with Republicans has taken a sharp drop – now only 81% approve of his recent actions, down from 84% last month.”

  16. They will 100% still vote for him and for all of these ghouls as long as it keeps some trans girl in Idaho from competing in the 100m dash.

  17. I can’t believe that “don’t buy your children Christmas presents” isn’t resonating as a way to solve the “fake” affordability crisis.

As yet the GOP keeps gaslighting their constituents, telling them that Biden is the reason for their discontent.
