I joined the NRA when I was 18 because I wanted to learn about discounts the org offered as far as helping me buy a shotgun to go trap and skeet shooting with. Opened one piece of mail I got from them and immediately never opened anything from them again. I made damn sure no further money would go to them, ever. Nothing but pure propaganda and fear tactics. It’s easy to think the cartoon segment about the history of the NRA from Bowling For Columbine was hyperbole, but it made complete sense after reading one piece of mail with a “letter” from Wayne LaPierre (shudders*).
I hope they go bankrupt and people with true intentions of gun ownership reform are able to take over and fight and lobby for common sense gun control. At the very least: Mandatory safety classes, licensing, registration, and proof of insurance for every firearm. Full stop.

They only come out when a mass shooting hits and say “its not the guns!” OH and maybe its just not something people GAF right now because of affordability.
