>Trump has a net positive approval rating in 22 states, according to Morning Consult, which gathers polls over the course of three months to get a look at state-level data among registered voters. The Dec. 5 update has two fewer above-water states compared to the previous month’s update.
>Ohio and Iowa, which were considered Republican strongholds in the 2024 election, were the two states where Trump lost his standing with voters, according to Morning Consult. The pollster also found Trump’s disapproval grew to second-term highs in these 2024 swing states: Arizona (51%), Georgia (50%), Michigan and North Carolina (52% each) and Wisconsin (54%). His approval rating is negative in all the swing states.
>In Pennsylvania, 47% approve of Trump’s job performance and 50% disapprove. In Florida, 50% approve of Trump’s job performance, compared to 46% who disapprove.
It’s not a good sign for republicans in the midterms with red states turning purple.

The most interesting part ins’t that Iowa and Ohio flipped negative it’s why. Voters there gave Trump plenty of chances. At some point, nonstop grievance politics wears thin when people just want competence. You can only run on everything is rigged for so long before voters start asking what you’re actually going to do for them.

If only someone would’ve told those rubes how horrible his second term would’ve been for them

The people who are unhappy with Trump now will gladly return to the fold when he isn’t on the ballot. Democrats cannot be complacent thinking they have switched sides… they will happily vote R again.

Given how absolutely disastrous this clown had to be just to begin tipping the scales back it doesn’t give me much hope. Anyway we still have 3 years of Trump (or Vance) so the very best we can hope for is a stalemate after the midterms.

Yet odds are they’d vote for him again.

Can we not normalize Democrats flipping seats as “flipping negative.”

Trump ruined this country because Republican politicians learned from watching Trump that they could be proudly moral less and self enriching and Republican voters would still show up.
They realized just how fuckin stupid their voters were.

Ohio has been run into the ground by Republicans for YEARS now, so you’d think from their perspective, everything has been solved. Nope, we still have huge problems caused by Democrats. God, just fuck off already. If we can’t put Sherrod Brown back in the Senate, then we deserve all the incompetence.

Iowa and Ohio are essential states for Democrats if they ever want to have a Senate majority. It wasn’t that long ago they were seen as swing states instead of deep red.
2026 will be really interesting to see if Democrats like Sand, Brown, etc can win. And if either state will be back in the swing column for 2028.

I don’t think Trump cares about Republicans winning or losing anymore. It is a wish list for him to keep Republican majority. His first priority is enrich himself, his family and billionaires loyal to him. Remember, he is immune from any crime committed while his president, thanks to SCOTUS.
