I still don’t like that they’re running with the story that he was killed due to his views on trans people specifically. Kirk was hateful towards almost every demographic except his own, but we’re assuming that the trans issue was the one that led to the murder. This is based on the (not especially credible) reporting that the shooter was dating his transgender roommate. But the roommate has completely vanished, never made a public statement, never came out as transgender publicly, and used his birth name and pronouns when talking to the police. The texts between them read very weird, and conveniently lay out way too much information. There are also at least 3 different stories of how the arrest went, all in contradiction of each other. I’m concerned that the truth has been lost, and we’re focusing on the wrong issue. Is this guy the shooter? Probably. But the transgender roommate/lover angle seems like a stretch to try and pull trans people into the issue.
