  1. This has echos of how Biden was being criticized about affordability during the election.

The difference is that Biden was actually repairing the economy at the time while Trump is actively dismantling it.

Republicans campaigned on affordability, and they won big, but it was a lie.

They won the house, the senate, and the presidency, and they’ll be able to appoint new supreme court justices.

It was worth it, they’ll just use a fraction of their wealth gains from the tax cut to reinvest in even more propaganda and gaslight harder.

  3. I think the really tricky one is healthcare. We just spend too damn much as a nation. Something like 18% of GDP goes to healthcare. I think a reasonable compromise would be the public option, and then applying some scrutiny to commonly used treatments in America to see which ones are not cost-effective.

The GOP doesn’t care about affordability. Their base would gladly donate their organs to dear leader if told to do so. They don’t think or reason, just blindly follow. So the only people the MAGA party cares about is people that never clipped coupons or checked their bank statement to make sure they could make rent/mortgage.

  5. They seem to get the political message: “It’s the economy, and we’re stupid.” Many Republicans vote based on absurd ideals, like the idea prices should come down in a healthy economy. That their hopes and resentments are not based on reality means they can be played on in numerous ways. The practical concern with affordability is for workers to have wages that increase at least as fast as inflation. That’s a more complex dynamic than the price of consumer goods.

  6. Of course they don’t care. And they repeatedly lie.

The guy who says he will release his tax returns after “the audit” has been saying he will release the details of his health insurance plan for the last 10 years.

    We have neither.

Speaker Johnson said Democrats need to vote for the CR in order for him to release the details of his health care plan. Democrats eventually did agree to vote for the CR. And Speaker Johnson’s only plan is to put $1,500 into peoples’ Health Savings Accounts. In other words, no plan.

Unfortunately Fox Entertainment is telling its viewers that their expensive premiums are because of Obama, so GOP is getting a pass with their base for now. But eventually, even they will realize they have been scammed as we told them they would be.

The only question going forward, will the GOP voters continue pushing the button to own the libs, while they can’t afford the Republican healthcare no-plan for their family

  7. I truly despise paywalls. Also having to accept Bloomberg’s stupid cookies bs before I find out about the paywall.

Idk what this online world is coming to, but I truly despise it.

  8. Didn’t you hear. The Democrats made up the word. I know you might think that trump said it in every speech for two years during his campaign, but you are mistaken.

Just a big ol hoax. Trump would never lie, and there is zero proof that he ever did it over 30,000 times during his first term.

Fuck trump man. I didn’t think I could hate any president more than Reagan, but he is doing it.

  9. GOP does get it.

They spent 40 years creating the crisis specifically to use it as a pretext to steal more rights from Americans.

All of this that’s going on has been a long time coming.

  10. “Affordability” is a “hoax” created by democrats, apparently, so what is there to get?

  11. hallowedeve1313 on

They’re not looking to get it because they don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves

  12. The GOP hasn’t cared about affordability since Reagan trickled his balls into the party’s collective eyes. They realize it’s all a ploy and it’s cyclical. Lie to win an election or two, take in billions for their funders, let Dems clean up, repeat. It’s the “Two Santas” strategy at work, and has been for decades.

  13. The constant bombardment of news, inner circle of family/friends, and social media they receive contributes to this and tells them either everything is good even if their wallet says it it isn’t while at the same time also telling them if they are suffering its the Democrats and immigrates (legal or not) fault.

  14. They have zero interest in affordability or anything else that would improve people’s lives.

  15. humanity_go_boom on

Oh, they get it. What’s worrying is that they don’t seem to fear consequences at the ballot box. Almost like that doesn’t matter anymore. J6 was the dress rehearsal and there is no one left to oppose it in any official capacity.

  16. throwaway1601900 on

They don’t have to so long as Trump quenches MAGA’s sociopathy with more violent ICE raids and dehumanizing detention centers. MAGA will gladly eat the rising costs.

  17. They can’t make corporations happy and normal people happy. They’ve made their choice.

Corporations get the money. People get bullshit like talking about trans people, abortion and ICE.

  18. RenaissanceScientist on

It’s frustrating that the thing that gets most MAGAs to flip isn’t child sex ring scandals. It’s not kidnapping people off the streets. It’s not murdering people in the Caribbean. It’s making normal politician mistakes

  19. When a Democrat is on power, it’s UnAmerican to pay higher prices, when a Republican is president, it’s our duty as Americans to pay more and do with less. That’s the Republican way.

As long as the rich are getting more and the poor are getting less and the libs are getting owned online, that’s all that matters, right MAGA?

  20. They don’t care. They are focusing on the post collapse fire sale for them and their rich friends. Americans of normal means are just grist for the mill, and that goes double for their low value, low class, low income, uneducated maga cultists. Maga elites find the Maga base just as deplorable and disgusting as else. Maga suffering is a win for the Maga elites.

  21. Affordability is mutually incompatible with pro-corporate policimaking. Like a dog that caught the car, the GOP now is stuck having got everything it ever wanted, and everything is now painful in ways they never imagined.

And now people can simply see the lies every time they enter a grocery store.

  22. I bought a bag of the “cheap” coffee yesterday. One year ago, I was paying $6 a bag. Yesterday, it was “on sale” for $13. Sounds like a hoax to me…. 🙄
