    No it isn’t.

Not saying there isn’t a problem, but these hand-wringing media types have no effing idea what is like to live in Russia. Hint: no uber eats to bring their fav dishes to whatever cozy place they do their writing.

Pieces like this are just whining. Whiners don’t help. We know there are huge problems. Instead of whining about it, how about doing something to fix it?

  2. Saying this as someone who has lived and seen life in Russia. The real Russia, not just the rich parts of Moscow where photo ops never venture out of. Even so-

That you all really think what you’re getting, means it’s only going to *only* be “as bad”?

    You have no idea.

  3. Being the richest nation in the world means little when the average person who live there is anything but

  4. What an utterly stupid headline.

Has absolutely no basis in reality. What the fuck is this even supposed to mean?

    1. You can’t quantify that
    2. Even if you tried, it still makes no sense. No, we look absolutely nothing like Russia. The differences are vast.
    3. You can literally make any stupid comparison if you try hard enough. “*Oh no, the UK is clamping down on online social media speech and arresting people! That’s something Putin would do!*”

This can be summed up by an emotional journalist thinking *USA bad, Russia bad* and little else. The main point of the article is the wealth disparity between the ultra rich and middle class, but that’s literally happening all over the world right now.

This article uses a purposefully inflammatory headline because the author wants to exploit uninformed political talking points. Seriously, fuck off.

“*Both American and Russian billionaires both have similar incentives for keeping power! Who cares if billionaires all over the world do? Let me frame the headline to distort reality, because idiots who watch TV think Trump and Putin are best friends!*”

    Just extremely annoying.

  5. Who do you think is teaching them how to do it? Russia and Israel with their propaganda spewing hate-mongering media outlets. Removing freedom of speech for those who would oppose. Fascism 101 going on over here but people have become complacent, until it’s too late to turn back.

  6. Worse as tourist because to enter Russia I don’t need to provide more than half the information that will be required by the US including my DNA and last 5 years of socials. At this point I rather visit Russia.

Love the American fixation with seeing their own shithole country and the Americans in America doing it to them and being like, “this is exactly like x other country!”.

It’s time for a lot of serious wake up calls about what country has been a backwards regime with slipping quality of life and it’s not *every other country*

  8. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is every billion dollar corporation kissing Trump’s ring and giving him gifts because he was the sole approver of every one of their monopolistic mergers. Very mob like.

But at least we “punished” Democrats by refusing to vote for them in 2024 over an issue that doesn’t affect Americans at all, and in the end that’s what *really* matters.

Remember that Trump has defended Putin for years, like when he pushed back against claims that Putin is a “killer” who murders, exiles, and jails his political opponents, who suppresses civil liberties and crushes all dissenting voices—methods that Trump no doubt admires.

Trump has even indicated that he’s been taking advice from Putin on how to ~~run~~ steal elections.

Elections in Russia are performative. They are decided well in advance, they are rife with fraud and state-run media basically has a moratorium on election coverage.

This sort of illusion of popular support is what Donald Trump dreams of—it’s no wonder he’s taking advice from a dictator. Trump wants to legitimize authoritarianism at home and consolidate power under a western kleptocracy modeled after the economic and social tyranny of Putin’s regime.
