Republicans make deepfake AI video of Democrat giving a kid trans hormone therapy. The ad shows Maine Gov. Janet Mills giving little kids syringes with hormones. They couldn’t use real video because that never happened.

  1. This feel like it’s illegal, if not it really should be illegal

God, fucking AI is a Pandora’s box with all the stupidity it will lead to since people are going to fall for shit like this

  2. >[The ad from the National Republican Senatorial Committee](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxyC8StKRHE) (NRSC) takes the tone of a ’90s infomercial selling “The Janet Mills Collection.” The robotic voiceover misrepresents her policy positions while AI-generated videos show the “consequences” of those policies. Generative AI technology was likely used because these are not the actual results of Mills’ policies, so no real video was available for use.

    >Hormone therapy is not part of the standard of care for trans kids that age, and kids that age can’t get much medical care without parental permission. But saying that Democrats want [very young children to get age-inappropriate gender-affirming care](https://www.lgbtqnation.com/2023/05/nc-lt-gov-falsely-says-clinics-performed-transgender-surgery-on-5-year-olds/) has been a key strategy that the right has used to gin up moral panic against trans kids.

    >The voice-over then says that Mills “keeps parents in the dark while their minors take prescription hormones” as the video shows an even younger boy injecting himself with a syringe.

    >The last scene shows Mills drinking champagne in a fur coat at a hospital waiting room while the voiceover accuses her family of profiting from the gender-affirming care. It’s not clear what the ad is referring to, but the idea that doctors profit from turning kids transgender is an established rightwing conspiracy theory meant to discredit medical research showing that gender-affirming care is safe and life-saving for trans youth.

    >The ad includes no quotes from Mills or any legislation she signed, which are typical features of political attack ads, used to make the accusations seem more real. But AI-generated video appears to have taken that place in this ad as the realistic-looking videos provide “proof” that Mills is turning kids transgender behind their parents’ backs.

Christian nationalists are committing genocide against trans people, and the entire DNC is just sitting idle while trans people are being subjected to a pogrom. This is such bullshit! There needs to be more fire and fight back against this hate brigade that is trying to exterminate us.

This is one reason trump doesn’t want anyone regulating AI. It will allow his cult to defame their opponents in ways we’ve never seen.

They love AI because they can finally create the alternate reality that exists only in their addled brains.

  5. The fact they had to fabricate a video instead of using reality says everything. If your argument requires fake footage, maybe the argument itself doesn’t exist.

  6. This should alarm everyone, regardless of politics. Normalizing deepfake campaign ads is a race to the bottom that makes informed voting almost impossible.

Ironically since “every accusation is a confession” with republicans there probably is real video of republicans drugging kids to have sex with them hidden away or “redacted” in DOJ speak.

I found the video and they also have a line about her enriching her family at the expense of taxpayers which is too hypocritical for words

  9. ‘They couldn’t use real video because that never happened’

99.99% of the republican MO right there

Probably the genius idea of Federalist Society co-chair Leonard Leo since this is another passion project after getting Roe overturned. On Maine’s MDI he owns two mansions and a church (Latin Mass only since he’s Opus Dei) and is active behind the scenes in state politics.

  11. The other comments already encapsulate my outrage, so I’ll go ahead and mention why this is so fucking hilarious to me. The giant, old timey syringes for one, and the fact that estrogen therapy is most often in pill form. The one thing I’m jealous of trans women for, I hate my testosterone injections lol.

Oh that’s what we are doing? Bet. Run a deep fake on Trump fucking Ivanka and watch how fast their heads will spin. Make sure you include the clip of him saying his daughter is “a nice piece of ass” and juxtapose it with that creepy ass birthday card drawing with his pubic hair signature. End the ad by saying, “If Trump can do this with his child, imagine what he could do to *yours*.”

  13. This is awful and should be illegal. I hope Janet Mills sues. While it’s AI they are using her name and likeness in the add.

For the record to anybody here who may be just really learning basic trans concepts this year, the image shows nothing that even closely resembles hormonal injection equipment.

    I use a plastic 1mL syringe and there’s a small 100mL vial. That’s is.

Not this menacing even lair injection box.

Republicans can’t even do their research to google something for a photo.

  15. No wonder the current regime block all the attempts to regulate AI.

Because this shit should be ILLEGAL.

  16. I don’t understand why we’re not all just making and posting videos of Trump grabbing GOP women by the pussy. Have him grab MTG, Loomer, Nancy Reagan and Laura bush….piss these fucking assholes off. Do the absolute worst.

There needs to be laws against using someone’s likeness without permission and huge payouts to the victims of such imitations. You should own your likeness as a human right. This is one of the things I hate about AI.

  18. No one is injecting hormones with a needle like that. I know that isn’t the point but it just bothers me as someone who has taken injectable hormones. It’s a perfectly normal intramuscular injection. Not some Sigmund Freud cocaine needle shit.

  19. Fucking scum of the earth using AI to make shit up at the expense of trans people. Let them fucking live you, pedophiles

  20. Sensitive-Option-701 on

The photo at the top of the article shows two re-usable syringes, which faded out of use in the 1970s. Why? Hepatitis. Prion diseases.

  21. Yikes, thats one AI rabbit hole that shouldn’t be created, it should obliterated out of existence. 😬

You know, maybe the answer here is to aggressively flood their safe spaces with this exact thing. Make it impossible to miss until they agree on restrictions on this type of content.

I mean, why not sue their asses, and Just. Keep. Suing. Play his game.

Trump has a long line of suits against anyone who dares paint him in an unfavorable light… and they use the actual truth, his actual words, his real actions.

Dems need to pound this horseshit into the courts over and over again because eventually some of it will stick, and the truth will win out loudly in their favor.

  24. These maga nutjobs should be sued for doing this.   What disgusting, depraved people to create this insane falsehood. I despise them all..

People in here seem to still not be accepting what has happened in the USA. Legal and illegal no longer matters. All branches of government are fully controlled by one party and that party doesn’t want to play by fair rules. They are the law, what they want to do is always legal now. Comments about them winning or losing elections is only relivant if they decide to allow elections and then those elections need to be fair which they probably won’t be.
