  1. It is a tried-and-tested aphorism in Washington that it isn’t the crime that gets you, but it’s often the cover-up. That principle, established after the Watergate burglary saw President Richard Nixon leave the [White House](https://inews.co.uk/topic/white-house?srsltid=AfmBOoqadR7EMM_moZ1d5LfcGLDqQPYsr2FRIBfYOejfwJiPtoXV-WO7&ico=in-line_link) in disgrace, has largely held up in the decades since August 1974.

Now, President [Donald Trump](https://inews.co.uk/topic/donald-trump?srsltid=AfmBOoqDPj_bZKzReeln8WTJdQE0qxNuJmZcBmI_9PUBlq2xhA0_3xvY&ico=in-line_link) is rolling the dice with his own future, after the Department of Justice spent the weekend being repeatedly accused of concealing the extent of his relationship with the deceased, sex-trafficking financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Few should have been surprised by the fact that the Trump administration breached both the spirit and the letter of the law requiring the public release of all [documents relating to Epstein](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/bombshell-epstein-files-released-after-months-of-mounting-pressure-on-trump-4122735?ico=in-line_link) in the government’s possession. From the moment the President signed the law into force last month requiring disclosure by the end of last Friday, his top lieutenants immediately signalled that some documentation would have to be held back.

Attorney General Pam Bondi talked of unexplained “new information” reaching prosecutors that would suddenly require urgent investigation. Along with her deputy, Todd Blanche, she portrayed herself as a woman itching to comply with the law, but held back by the need to protect victims, witnesses, and the allegedly re-ignited investigative process.

So on Friday night, we got a [partial release of files](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/the-most-egregious-revelations-in-the-epstein-files-4113199?ico=in-line_link) so heavily redacted that, in many cases, they make a complete mockery of the process. A 119-page document relating to Grand Jury investigations of Epstein in New York was released, without a single word visible to the public. Black ink was also deployed to conceal [a contact list](https://www.justice.gov/multimedia/DOJ%20Disclosures/First%20Phase%20of%20Declassified%20Epstein%20Files/D.%20Masseuse%20List%20(Redacted).pdf) of 36 “Masseuses” available to Epstein. Again, nothing is visible on the document.

Pictures of Bill Clinton, ubiquitously released by Bondi’s team, showed no criminal activity, but the redaction of women pictured alongside him seemed deliberately designed to fuel suspicion that misconduct might have been the aim of the former president’s game. His spokesman, Angel Ureña, accused the White House of trying to divert attention away from Trump, saying “they’ll try and hide forever”.

Trump could literally be having sex with a child in the file and Maga would say the baby seduced him.

The MAGAts will forget about all this in a couple of months. All outrage MAGAts express against Trump is always purely temporary. Within two months they’ll be back to saying “Trump is the best president in American history and Jesus is nothing in front of him”. It’s sad but that’s how MAGA is. A cult. Nothing more than that.

There’s probably a half dozen times I seriously thought Trump would do something to end his political career, but it never happens so the tactics are apparently working. To name some of the instances: Trump/Putin July ’18 Helsinki meeting, Impeachment #1, Covid, January 6th, Stealing Classified Documents, Epstein ties

  5. But they aren’t out for Trump’s blood. They are out for liberal blood if they can find it.

Remember it is not a crime to lie to the press. And you’ll be seeing that a LOT right now.

Also, they don’t really care that everyone knows its a cover up. Who’s going to stop them? It’s a dictatorship now. They’re laughing at it. It’s a fun game to them. They look at their MAGA voters and laugh at them too, because even they have to accept it even if they don’t want to. Never has the lies been so transparent and the administration so bold. They truly do not feel threatened by the people at all. It’s now a lawless free for all at the highest levels.

Last November was the most important election of the century and the USA collectively blew it. And now we have to deal with this shit.

Not really though. There is not an issue that will make them switch sides. You have to defeat them

I don’t know they seem to be working pretty well. He hasn’t faced any consequences at all.

  9. He could diddle a kid on 5th Ave and ain’t shit going to happen except Dems calling for an investigation and the poor kid being labeled a lier and not his type.

  10. AcanthisittaNo6653 on

It’s a sad commentary that it’s more about MAGA than it is about the survivors. Screw MAGA.

I still havn’t heard of a supporter turning on him so i think it still is working. The way they think is “well clinton is also raping 15 year olds so i’d rather have our raper than someone like clinton”. He’s their rapist.

  12. Title made it seem like it was a large portion of Maga. But the article only mentions Massey and mtg which isnt news.

  13. nobodyisfreakinghome on

My maga fam is radio silent on the matter. Not even a peep about Clinton. Instead they’re sayin the Dems are still saying the boats are drug boats.

    They know.

  14. Are they? Because on /r/con there was no mention of the Epstein yesterday.

I will say that the mood did seem a little less pro-trump though.

  15. Are they? I have barely seen anything over at the other sub. The two posts that even mentioned it were mostly “a bit disappointing, should be uncensored,  but also I knew Clinton was a creep!”

Seems to be working exactly the way they intended. And now they’ve lost interest.

  16. Look, until Trump is kicked out of office and his administration dismantled, there’s nothing anyone can say or do to make me believe the idiot voters who thought Trump coming back for another term would be good has actually come to their senses.

Honestly, a good chunk of them likely wanted exactly what they got.

  17. From my vantage point, Trump and his sycophants are working feverishly to hide things from the public eye. What they fail to realize is that, Trump is the only person who has immunity, not the worker bee.

  18. They are 100% working with his base. Foreign media does not understand how stupid and frivolous the average Trump voter really is.

  19. Time-Warthog2000 on

How are Trumps tactics not working? Has he faced ANY accountability? No? Then they’re working and we need to talk about *that*
