I’m guessing worthless clickbait given the source.
But Colbert is welcome to run just as anyone. I don’t know why he’d want to, but he could if he chose.

No. I’m sorry. Just no. Why is it that people think the highest office in this country needs to be held by celebrities? Can we please have candidates that actually know how government is supposed to work? No Steven Colbert – no John Stewart just no celebrities unless they truly have some form of expertise in government. We pushed away Pete Buttigieg and Tim Walz because they didn’t have enough experience and now we’re talking about more celebrities. C’mon! Just quit

Consider that Trump ran after Obama roasted him at the correspondents dinner, ultimately leading to Trump replacing Obama. It would be ironic that Trump ended Colbert tv show to cause Colbert to run and replace Trump. Imagine that transition!

If he wants to run, go ahead and enter the primary. Let him answer the questions on stage next to probably Newsome, Harris, Whitmer, Buttigieg, and whomever else and see who gives the best answers.

Colbert is one of the few religious people that isn’t batshit crazy, so he would be an good leftist candidate that could actually grab a few votes from the other side. Plus they could just show the older, dumber republicans old clips from the Colbert Show. I don’t think he’d want to put himself through all that, though.

There is only one required qualification to become President of the United States of America: **You have to be able to win an election.**
It doesn’t matter how much “experience” you have if you can’t win an election. If you can’t win, you don’t get to be President. That’s the end of the line. Anything else is just an opinion or a wish list.
A guy like Colbert could win an election, which would at least open the door to get qualified people into positions where they can make a difference.

The Democrats are not like the Republicans. Their elected leaders often have career achievements they can point to and sell to voters.
It has not gotten so bad that inexperienced celebrities or business hacks regularly become legitimate candidates. For Republicans this has set sail since start of the 2000s.

The only way I can imagine him entertaining the idea of running would be to troll trump, which would be hilarious.
To be clear, pretending he is interested in running would be the troll, not actually doing it and trying to win, he won’t do that.

I think Mark Kelly is our best bet. I do tend to think Governors are better-suited to Presidency, but Kelly’s military background fills in the leadership part, and I think he’s less divisive than Newsom.
Maybe a Kelly-Colbert ticket would work.
