Kinda wild how blending into culture is the new stealth mode for extreme ideologies. Like, can’t we enjoy *anything* without worrying about hidden agendas anymore? 🤦♂️

Facebook has become an unrelenting cesspool of straight up Nazi-level propaganda from official government accounts and legions of far-right accounts posting ridiculous rage bait drivel (the majority of which are likely bit accounts). Twitter is owned by a literal neo-Nazi that follows white supremacist accounts, pushes fascist talking points via adds and promotions, and has developed an AI agent that refers to itself as “mecha-Hitler”. CBS/Paramount is owned by a Trump bootlicker actively censoring any reporting that could be negative towards their mentally defunct golden calf. Disney bent the knee with suspending Kimmel. Amazon, Apple, and Google have fallen right in-line with the regime to keep their profits coming and regulations low.
Damn near the entirety of American media, social and traditional, has been or is now controlled by fascist actors. This is the natural result of media and business M&A deregulation. If the American Republic is somehow preserved through this mess, it is not only the political figures that must be held to account, but those that are culpable for the rise of fascism from the private sector must experience justice as well. If we are to combine such with a massive overhaul of federal regulations, enforcement, Executive/Judicial/electoral reform, and an equitable tax code, then perhaps, just maybe, we can quickly and less painfully recover from the horrific damage exacted by Trump, Miller, Bannon, and their disgusting political ilk. But I won’t be holding my breath.

>The German videos – titled Balaclava Kitchen – started in 2014 and ran for months before YouTube took down the channel for violating its guidelines.
>But it offered a glimpse of how far-right groups have seized on cultural production – from clothing brands to top 40 music – to normalise their ideas, in a process that researchers say has hit new heights in the age of social media.
>“It’s frightening, honestly,” said Katherine Kondor, a researcher with the Norwegian Center for Holocaust and Minority Studies. “You can be radicalised sitting on your couch.”
>In affiliation with the Center for Research on Extremism (C-REX), Kondor is leading a six-country project looking at how the extreme right uses aesthetics, from fitness influencers to memes and stickers, to spread their views across Europe.

“In Hungary we have some examples of extreme right bands becoming mainstream because they’re on the top 40 chart. I mean, what’s more normal than being on the top 40?” Kondor said.

The issue (among many many issues) is imagine if everyone is far-right? Europe, America, etc. Everyone is far right. You know what will happen? The most powerful far-right would be the “correct” far-right. Look at what happened between Trump/Elon. On paper it looked like a match made in heaven. One makes money, one approves of him making money, they both share the same vision. Elon had the money, Trump had the power.

I just watched Stranger Things, where one’s acceptance of being gay seemed to indirectly lead to summoning one’s innate superpowers…. meanwhile every corporate or military presence in the show is presented as secondary opposition only to a squelching demon.

The creep is very lobster-pot level for a lot of people, but it is real. I’m really shocked at the increase in “religious” themed entertainment (scare quotes because it’s not particularly religious, just has the trappings of), the rise of manosphere shit into the mainstream, the tradwife trends… it’s really everywhere. Mainstream media sanewashing a lot of it doesn’t help, but with the same people buying up major entertainment and news conglomerates means it’s all about to get worse.
