  1. Even if they were to ditch it, the Democrats would probably handicap themselves with it as soon as they get power back.

  2. This is one of the few things I agree on with Trump! Filibuster as it currently exists just keeps Democrats from being able to fix things! Without the filibuster we’d have a much better healthcare bill!

What’s that song. Ohh yes desperado. What has trump done on the pedo island. Was he in the audience watching a kid be tortured. Just what happened

I agree with this. The ruling party should own their actions and non actions. No more excuses with Dems missing Medicare for all by 1 vote or whatever when in powe

  5. The Filibuster has, historically, been much more beneficial to the Rs than the Ds, and the Senate Republicans know this.

    Trump doesn’t get this.

  6. They gonna do his bidding .. after this year’s of lawbreaking .. they wont want to be accountable

  7. Do it. The Filibuster helps Republicans way more when the Senate is so broken and Wyoming gets as much voting power as California.

  8. I would like for the republicans to get rid of it because it’ll take probably 53 democrats at least to do the same.

  9. They will never do it because then they will have absolutely no excuse or plausible denialability when they do bad things or fail to do good things

The Fillibuster isnt there to “Force Consensus” like they make everyone believe its a mechanic to do nothing to maintain the status quo and have something to blame– “Oh no guys, sorry we cant vote on this thing that 80% of the country supports, tHe fILLibUstEr is preventing progress!”

  10. The filibuster has needed to go away for a while. It’s a shame that the GOP is the one more likely to go through with it. It was inevitable this would happen, despite Senate Democrats protecting it because of the “what about the Republicans??” talking point.

Democracy is improved when elections result in actual legislation. As a Leftist who is very critical of Biden, I still think he’d have had a more substantial presidency had he been able to pass Medicare expansion and a more ambitious BBB agenda that wasn’t catered to the right for the 60-vote majority.

You know what? Yup. Let’s do it. First time I’ll endorse one of his decisions.

    Midterms gunna be a bloodbath

I’ve been for getting rid of the filibuster for a long time. We were just 2 votes away from of getting rid of it under Biden.

I think it would make it much more clear where each Party stands on the issues.

  13. Given what I expect to happen to Republicans in the next election I agree. I understand that the margin is setup to encourage bi-partisanship, but in reality all its done is the Democrats trying to be bipartisan and letting the GOP get stuff done, while the GOP obstructs everything.

And this is the first time they have seen the Democrats stop doing that, and start acting like the GOP has. And they are losing their minds over it. So im kinda OK with them getting rid of this rule.

The Senate isnt going to play along however as the Republicans can see what will happen to them afterwards.

  14. He is short sighted. Republicans won’t always have a majority. If it’s at all possible Trump would make America a one party dictatorship

  15. The GOP is about to be sodomized in these midterms. There is no way in hell they ace the fillibuster when they will desperately need it to block Democrat policies in just one year.

the filibuster solely benefits Republicans because it allows them to kill a bill without an official vote. without it, it’ll be much harder for Republicans to lie about fighting for their constituents when they are on record fighting against them time and time and time again. he’s been in politics going on a decade how does he still have no idea how anything works?

  17. That will work great later when Democrats retake the Senate and try to impeach a certain pedophile.

  18. Yes. Do it. Short term? Yeah a couple of bad hits.

Long term, my god does this benefit the Democrats. The Senate already exists to choke off shit, the 60 vote threshold makes change that much harder.

Trump didn’t have the juice to get Rs to ditch it at the peak of his powers so they sure as shit won’t do it while he’s flailing about.
