Republicans are giving the gift of shock and awe insurance premium hikes to millions of Americans this holiday season. Many, many more millions will have a gift to give Republicans in return next November: The gift of immediate retirement from government service.

While this is horrific, there is a silver lining to this.
Healthcare in this country has been utterly fucked for a LONG time. The ACA made it better, but ever since Republicans have gutted any hope of a public option, healthcare costs have only continued to skyrocket.
Republicans own these problems. Now that healthcare costs are going to explode, Republicans are solely to blame, and this just might lead to the political capital a Democrat needs in 2028 to get a public option, and thus, more affordable healthcare.
Note: to those replying with pessimism, look, I get you. Corporations and the wealthy control most if not all avenues of power in this country, and the prospect looks daunting now.
However, I’m not arguing that Dems will do this out of the kindness of their hearts. Many are paying upwards of *12 thousand dollars* a year for healthcare. That is fucking unsustainable and horrible for the American economy. Even corporate dems recognize this and are trying to keep the economy afloat by not having millions of people die a year from lack of healthcare coverage.
For all Biden’s many faults, he really did make large improvements in the healthcare system (expanding the ACA, the subsidies, making drug companies lower their prices on prescription drugs, etc).
Change IS possible.

It’s crazy to live in a country where the government will do nothing to make sure its people are taken care of. Just pure corporate tyranny here and it’s fucking awful.

The stupid Republicans think they are sticking it to poor people when these reasonable and subsidized healthcare benefits allow people to start small businesses and work for small companies that may not be able to offer good insurance. This is going to take the economy even worse.

This is the point. Only mega corporations will be able to weather the downside of Trumps economy.
More small mom and pop businesses will either close their doors or sell out. This is what Republicans voted for, remember that.
