I realize this is one of the least important details, but I cannot begin to describe how much the term “Donroe Doctrine” infuriates me. It is SO dumb on every possible level.

  2. >”The Monroe Doctrine is a big deal, but we’ve superseded it by a lot, by a real lot,”

    >”They now call it the ‘Donroe Doctrine.'”

    >”We sort of forgot about it — it was very important, but we forgot about it. We don’t forget about it anymore,” the President added.

How can anyone listen to this guy and not think he’s an idiot.

    What is it?

    It is called Imperialism.

Trump’s ‘isolationism’ was never more than a campaign slogan – he did not mean a word of it.

    Typical of fascism.

    >The American Fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact. Their newspapers and propaganda carefully cultivate every fissure of disunity, every crack in the common front against fascism. They use every opportunity to impugn democracy. **They use isolationism as a slogan to conceal their own selfish imperialism.**

    >They cultivate hate and distrust [of allies]. They claim to be super-patriots, but they would destroy every liberty guaranteed by the Constitution. They demand free enterprise, but are the spokesmen for monopoly and vested interest. Their final objective toward which all their deceit is directed is to capture political power so that, using the power of the State and the power of the market simultaneously they may keep the common man in eternal subjection. – Henry A. Wallace, Vice President, USA, 1944.

sounds like another branded slogan that centers one man while pretending to speak for a whole nations values.

Even in a field filled with strong competitors, the “Donroe Doctrine” might just be the stupidest fucking thing he’s ever said.

    Jesus Christ.

  6. Donroe Doctrine:

Rape children, blow Bubba, get blackmailed, betray country, commit war crimes, tweet in a dementia-addled fugue state at 3am while dying of heart failure, shit pants.

    repeat.

An actual journalist would have asked him about the Roosevelt Corollary, and it would have been hilarious for Donny Low IQ Trump to not know wtf the question meant.

  8. I pity future generations of American history students trying to learn and understand how America was run by an undereducated, deranged lunatic.

  9. This is the dumbest thing and it’s even dumber that media tries to legitimize it like this.

  10. The Donroe Doctrine just cements his complete and utter ignorance.

Monroe didn’t want European influences in the Americas. Spain, Netherlands, France all had a footprint on the continent before thenUS broke away from the UK. The doctrine was perverted to help big business in South America and this is exactly what is happening now. This isn’t about drugs or democracy; it’s about oil and rare earth minerals. It isn’t about freeing people, it’s about subjugating people at the expense of the lives of the people that voted for him, and if it’s like the previous foray into these countries, probably their children and grandchildren.

    Are we great yet?

It’s a mixup of Monroe and Dunce.

The Monroe doctrine was from the 1820’s. Now we know when Donnie thinks America was great. It’s also about 60 years before Trump’s immigrant grandfather came to the US.

I swear someone is slowly teaching Trump US history, and then he just runs with old ideas without seeing or caring how they played out in history. We started with tariffs and now we’re doing western hemisphere interventionism. Before long, he’s going to announce the invasion of some random Asian country to prevent the spread of communism.

  13. nerdyblackbird on

Invoking the Monroe Doctrine in 2026 is basically saying “spheres of influence are bad, unless we’re the ones doing it.” It’s a 19th-century imperial idea dressed up as patriotism, and Latin America has spent a century living with the consequences.

If China pulled this move today we’d be screaming about authoritarian expansion. Apparently history only matters when it flatters us.

Trying to put his name on every American cultural touchstone just looks like a drunk imitating a dog because he has a full bladder.

  15. The English language is not something Trump excels at, his speeches are worse than a three year old. How long are the American people going to be snowed by this imbecile.
