The doctrine was perverted to help big business in South America and this is exactly what is happening now. This isn’t about drugs or democracy; it’s about oil and rare earth minerals. It isn’t about freeing people, it’s about subjugating people at the expense of the lives of the people that voted for him, and if it’s like the previous foray into these countries, probably their children and grandchildren.
