What moral justification would we have to tell China not to invade Taiwan? Where will we stand on the Russia Ukraine war? What about the Gaza war? We have no morale stand after the events of this weekend to tell anyone anything

This is hardly the dawn of a “might makes right” world. It has *always* been this way despite what Americans and those on top want to tell themselves.

Might makes right is the standard for most of human history, the post ww2 rules based order is an outlier

“Dawn of” Maybe I’m misreading my history books here, but I’m pretty sure human civilization has been a might makes right civilization basically always unfortunately.

Trump wants the US to override the international law that was set up after WWII and become the dominant power in the hemisphere to take what he wants so him and his buddies can get richer, like in Russia.
This is what Putin wants too… To replace international law with a “sphere of influence” dynamic.

The “mighty” are really good at burning through resources and suffering a complete economic collapse. See the Soviet Union. To date, Putin’s Russia seems to be following the same path.
Trump’s actions in Venezuela are too similar for my tastes, but let’s not pretend it’s remotely the same scale

I think it feels different now because it can’t be chalked up to lack of technological progress. This is just deliberate cruelty.

There has always been assault and aggression from the top down for the history of our world.
‘Might makes right’ has been the rule as long as there has been a ruling class and a working one. The difference is that modern times coated it in a vineer of ‘civility’ through legislation and corporate policy.
But the intent and the outcome is the same. The wealthy and powerful put their boot on the throat of those with nearly nothing and, the second they bite that foot, it’s seen as ‘random’ and some sort of microcosm of anger instead of being the exact response to a cruel system.
Don’t ever be surprised when people punch up.

Dawn? The world has ALWAYS been might makes right. The ideals America was founded on are aspirational, hence our centuries of bickering over civil rights and human rights

It’s not like there’s multiple examples of why “might makes right” is a bad idea /s

It’s hardly “the dawn.” Just another chapter in a long book.

All a “might makes right” world does is reinforce MAD. Everyone will be trying to get nukes as they’re they only way to keep the nuclear powers from imposing on them.

Maybe we won’t. Maybe this is why there are no space faring intelligences.

It’s only “right” if we allow it to stand.

every single nation on earth that doesn’t have nuclear weapons is going to start a program. it will be impossible to track, and probably lead to WW III.
