Trump’s reasoning for ignoring Venezuela’s obvious opposition leader: she didn’t hand him her prize. That’s literally the ‘ultimate sin’ in his universe.
Funny, because the Nobel Committee basically gave Machado the prize to give it to Trump without actually giving it to Trump, to appease him. Machado is an open supporter of Trump and Netanyahu. Guess that didn’t really work out, then.

Notice that Trump used very soft language when he said Machado needed more support locally. Soft language from Trump is usually a tell that he’s angling behind the scenes for a deal/bribe. I won’t be surprised to see Machado get his support later on once she’s promised everything to him.
That being said, he also doesn’t want to admit that kidnapping the president did zero to actually conquer Venezuela, and the VP continues the Maduro government unhindered and is likely to execute anyone they catch with Trump ties.
