  1. Seriously?

I thought it was an extremely tightly executed military operation – I can‘t see anything to complain about that.

I saw this earlier. About 50 people.

Quite a lot given how bloody cold it was.

I left when they started going on about Harold Wilson and Vietnam.

Do they realise that Maduro was essentially a communist dictator?

I’m not saying that makes Trump’s actions okay. Trump is reckless, and probably just in it for the oil and gold.

But these protestors are talking like the Venezuelan government is legitimate. Maduro ignored the 2024 election (which he lost) and starved half the country, causing a massive refugee crisis.

If this moves the country closer to democracy, it could end up being a great thing for the Venezuelan people. That’s a big ‘if’ though, because I doubt Trump’s government has a coherent plan for transitioning them back to democracy and capitalism.

Ah yes, the perfect example of lefties thousands of miles away protesting about a military operation that lasted a day and which Venezuelans have widely supported and celebrated.

Its got to the point that lefty cabbage heads will tell Venezuelans how they really feel.

  5. The fart heard around the world.

Not to belittle their efforts but the money men have been after Venezuela’s stuff for decades and they own our media so nobody is going to be allowed to oppose this without beginning: yes Maduro was a terrible man. He wasn’t, he isn’t. But assuming he is, why not take him down?

The real issue here is our oil dependency, it’s now moving into Mad Max mode.

Remember when Jeremy Corbyn [called the Maduro government in 2014](https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/4154487/watch-jeremy-corbyn-call-up-venezuelan-leader-nicolas-maduro-to-give-fawning-praise-as-he-fails-to-condemn-far-left-regime-after-brutal-crackdown/) to congratulate him on winning the election. That was funny.

Remember when he attended a vigil in 2013 for the late Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez, calling him an ‘inspiration to all of us fighting back against austerity and neo-liberal economics in Europe’.

Yh these people have always supported dictators as long as they call themselves socialists. Can’t wait for Maduro to get slapped by a U.S. court with a nice long prison sentence.

Remember, other throwing dictators is only cool if you’re not American. *cough* Assad *cough*

  7. “Thankyou USA”

    How dare you be thankful!!!

I mean, a broken clock is right twice a day…

    Or twice a term.

There’s always some kind of protest at Cascade Steps and it’s Stop the War Coalition, so what do you expect.

I know a few Venezuelans living in Bristol and they certainly wouldn’t want anything to do with these moonbeams.

  9. Bristol will protest anything, literally anything, while the country it happen to seems happy about it

The left just love their dictators.

    Useful idiots at it again.

Virtue signaling that’s all it is.

  11. Why are Brits protesting the removal of a foreign dictator? Meanwhile most Venezuelans are celebrating.

I understand there are concerns about who will replace him and what role the US will play in the country’s future. But Maduro was an asshole, we should be glad he’s gone.

It seems the people on the subreddit can’t comprehend he fact that it’d possible for a dictator to be bad and deserve to be apprehended.

And that America invading and taking over another country for their oil without nato support sets a bad precedent and should be contested.

  13. Look how trump treats his friends and family.

The poor people of Venezuela will be an inconvenience to him and the oil he wants- he will want them silenced by any means.

Just look at how ICE making women and children disappear from the USA.

People are so full of rage and hate at anyone who doesn’t subscribe to their twisted version of reality its sad.

I was pondering last year what the ‘conflict du jour’ would be for the Ukraine then Palestine muppets, and Trump has handed them this beautiful New Year present

  16. Literally supporting the restoration of a murderous dictator.

They need a holiday in Caracas, where the slums got so much soul.

  17. Miserable-Ad7835 on

Oh bless, they’ve forgotten about Ukraine and Gaza already…

Anything to avoid getting a full time job I guess.

  18. Left wingers suddenly discover they support a government using force to stop foreigners illegally entering and committing crimes!

But only if its a socialist dictatorship which enslaved its own people!

  19. Hmm, were there any actual Venezuelans on that protest or was it all privileged hippy white people?

  20. existentialgoof on

At least it’s not a protest about US race relations (the favourite topic of UK wokes), for a change.
