Free wholesome content for your kids? The devil!!! Liberal deep state, those people on Sesame Street! Compassion and curiosity are the enemy.

The GOP, maga & their evil overlords really hate Americans and their children. They have done nothing positive, only damage, sometimes leading to death. They are all evil

  4. man you’d think there’d be some rich dude that could pony up the cash to donate to keep it running.

  5. Important to remember that the total federal funding for CPB was less than a rounding error.

  6. This is just wrong.

Why do they feel so emboldened to destroy the lives of people including their own followers? Especially when it benefits children.

  7. This is another facet of the dumbing down of America. republicians love an ignorant, compliant, and poor citizen.

  8. This is one of those that really just breaks me.

An essential piece of democracy is a free and independent media, and for what feels like my life now it’s been chucked around like a football and now dies at the hands of Trump.

We will regret this for generations to come.

For a Democracy the US sure likes to hand a lot of power to just one person and his Unelected cabinet.

  10. This really exposes that the concept of benevolent billionaires is a joke. A “benevolent billionaire” could have salvaged the CPB. No one gets that rich by being a good person.

  11. Where’s the Melinda Gates and/or MacKenzie Scott bat signal?
Seriously. Give enough to keep CPB afloat until the rancid bag of orange shit finally strokes out and rids the world of his stain. When the malignant whale beaches itself and bloats in the sun, all the parasites attached to its taint will parish as well.

If you’re upset by this, there’s action you can take. The CPB shutting down does NOT mean that PBS and NPR are going away, just that they have lost federal funding. This means they’re entirely funded by members now, so when they say “viewers like you”, they mean YOU! Rural stations have been hit hardest by this, so if you can afford to donate, please consider becoming a member of your local station at whatever level you can.

  13. The media needs to remind people that sadly this is what Americans voted for in 2024. Also to blame are the people who could have voted and stayed home.

There were enough wealthy people who could’ve saved it. If you don’t invest in these important outlets they’re forced to rely on others who do not care about their fate and don’t value what they do.

It’s curious how funding isn’t supported but people have money for other things. People were quick to buy Tesla’s thinking they’re saving the environment not realizing the directly helped a racist, right wing extremist out to destroy Democracy and strip their rights. His company was supported for years by selling carbon credits to ICE manufacturers who could continued making non ev cars. They could’ve saved $ by keeping their old car or buying a different brand and used the difference to donate. And did your kid really need to go to multiple Taylor Swift concerts? Wish I was joking but thats one real world example where money was routed to a frivolous amusement instead. There’s endless examples..

To others who did donate and support them, your efforts mattered. The legacy of the CPB’s work will echo for years to come, I hope can be rebuilt and made even better. For now if you’re able, consider funding small projects they used to support, it’s quite easy.

“Fred Rogers testified before Congress in 1969 to defend crucial funding for public broadcasting (PBS), arguing for its vital role in providing safe, educational, and emotionally supportive content for children”

Conservative politicians have been trying to rezone and demolish Mr. Rogers Neighbourhood and Sesame Street for decades.

Another win for the tech bro billionaires.

More kids watching brain rot on YouTube.

  17. They want people dumb because you have to be a moron to vote for a convicted felon for POTUS.

Add a it to the list of things and people killed by Trump. Thousands of people dead from USAID cuts, untold covid deaths from downplaying it for political gain, US spies in his first term, individuals like MN politicians to soldiers through Trump’s stochastic terrorism, the list goes on.

I’d just like to say fuck every single thing about this and especially fuck everyone who voted for this.

The more popular shows will be fine because they’ll get sponsors, but the smaller niche shows, especially those that focus on minority issues, will be destroyed—and that’s always been the plan of this regime.
