The divide between right-wing media personalities and their audiences suggests the Venezuelan raid could pose political problems for Trump. Even as Trump celebrates the operation and [suggests](https://www.axios.com/2026/01/05/trump-mexico-greenland-colombia-venezuela-invade) future raids in Mexico and Colombia, it seems like even hardcore MAGA fans aren’t buying what he’s selling. At the same time, Maduro’s capture has put Trump’s media supporters in a bind: defend Trump or appease their isolationist audiences.

  2. well duh and watching them try to walk it back or lose their business has been amusing. Trump was elected to do Isolationism, no new wars. OG Trumpers will remember Benghazi and Hilary’s attempts to have us go all the way into Syria. This is where the Trump and Trump-adjacent media cottage industry starts choking on it’s own success. Either Trump starts acting like Trump, or his base will just move on to something much worse. Trump cannot control the people who have used him to kick out the system blocking them.

…Are you sure their audiences said wtf? All my right wing friends/family are cheering this.

  5. They also said wtf? In 2016 when his name first came up, then every other day since then.

They seem to get over it and fall right back in line pretty quickly

  6. MAGA influencers are not leaders and thinkers that arose from the audience they now influence. They are agents of the regime charged with managing and manipulating the audience.

I’m really hoping that MAGA’s skepticism of Big Pharma, Big Tech, Big Ag, and Media will translate to Big Oil. Intellectual consistency is not their watchword but maybe we’re entering an era where the runaway reaction of reactionary paranoia escapes the containment of conservative media. Maybe there’s another new color of pill these idiots can talk about taking where you realize the Trump cult runs on cognitive dissonance and generally being a numpty.

The bad press should not only fall on Trump, but on the soldiers as well. If you fight an evil war for an evil empire, you deserve to come home and be a pariah in your own community.

  9. Idk I saw a poll showing that 2/3 of Republicans polled approve of removing Maduro. I’m not saying it makes it excusable but his die hard supporters have often forgiven inexcusable behavior from Trump (like being a child predator, being a rapist, hanging out with best bud Epstein etc).

  10. No they didn’t. Their audience did not say WTF. Their audience loves this. Because they’re in a cult, and they support absolutely anything that Trump does.

What is it going to take? There are more of us than these monsters. I’m not a leader, but I’ll certainly follow a path to victory against these tyrannical oligarchs. It’s been over a decade of this menace and he and his sycophants commit crimes daily- WHY do we seem to have zero agency? There’s simply more of us who are outraged and angry. I don’t know what I can do- I can’t save the world.
