I am genuinely amazed that the constitution, all the “checks and balances”, the “norms”, rules, international laws, political processes etc are things that a president can just say “no thanks” to. The USA is built on a house of cards. Crazy. Here’s a fun fact: The Supreme Court stated that Congress doesn’t need to convict Trump. The Supreme Court stated very clearly that Congress is solely able to enforce the 14th amendment.
All that is needed is for Congress to issue a resolution recognizing Trump as an insurrectionist under the 14th amendment and poof, he’s no longer legally a president. Doesn’t even need to be a law. Doesn’t need 60 votes in the Senate. He can challenge that resolution, of course, but it would just get thrown out because, again, the Supreme Court gave the power of determination exclusively to Congress, removing all courts from jurisdiction.
