Nightmare scenario, anyone remember chem class where you have a beaker of solution and you have to add another chem to it till all of a sudden the beaker of solution turns a different color? I hoping that’s not the case. Getting anxiety thinking about that.

  2. It has been evident for years that climate change data is running several years ahead of conservative (nonpolitical) and outdated estimates and subsequent forecasts. Scientists were not counting natural methane sources correctly which are much more potent than CO2. They were also not estimating correctly deep ocean pH (CO2) mixing. My personal non-scientific extrapolation from all sources suggests significant global impact on human populations by 2028-9, as opposed to minor localized impact.

  3. Reading this article immediately after a ‘Trump is leading us into WWIII’ article, and, well, all of this is just hitting different. We’re in quite a pickle, aren’t we?

  4. We know. Remember in 2015 when we were told that maybe, if we really fail, we would hit 1.5C by 2045 or so, but not to worry (because Net Zero solar panels and EVs) then 8 years later in 2023 we hit 1.5C transient warming and projected to have officially reached it by 2030. How could their models be so spectacularly wrong… would be a fair question.

  5. We’re cooked!! Methane is doing what it does best ! Don’t believe me-fly to the tundra and see and measure it urself!!! We are toast with these extreme levels of release and are only getting worse!! Total climate ecosystem collapse is coming!!!

Gee Willakers Batman!!! I go to bed and wake up to find climate change has moved decades ahead of schedule overnight!

    I’m shocked! Shocked, I say.

I’m really encouraged however that The Independent is now on the job to report the overnight events.

I’m confident that, now that we have suddenly recognized that climate change has arrived, we will all – every one of us consumers (who are apparently to blame for this) – turn on the afterburners and get out in front of this thing. Maybe a carbon tax will be an efficient way to do that without disrupting commerce and politics.

We can still get in front of this thing, can’t we?

    CAN’T WE?

“Climate change is here. We are seeing event classes [today] that were forecast in climate models for the 2050s, 2060s, and 2070s.”

    “Faster than expected”

Almost like the people in /r/collapse werent so much doomers as people said than looking forward with fore-site..

We have about 10-15 years before the established agriculture becomes seriously affected. Once that happens there will be widespread food insecurity.
