For ordinary people these moments might seem unimortant but if government doesn’t act swiftly and let the people go on a witch hunt it will repeat the events of Latakia. Syrian army annoyingly enough have been waiting at the entrance for hours. If the people start hunting those who are running. For the next decade there might be an insurgency. Hopefully Syrian army will go first from now on not the random armed men from the town. Advance must stop at the kurdish majority towns.

This seems like pro Syrian Government propaganda. Fuck the New Syrian Government, it’s led by an al-Qaeda terrorist.

Yea I don’t believe this. The people of Raqqa are the same people that welcomed ISIS. The SDF never engaged in mass brutality like so many other sides during the civil war. It’s no wonder the people of Raqqa are so excited to be ruled by a former Al-Qaeda member. If the SDF wants to put down a few terrorist fanboys before they leave, they can be my guest. These people should be ruled with a boot on their neck, because they’re a danger to everyone else.

Really tragic, that the Syrians can‘t just have Peace now.
The new Government is poised to reestablish central government basically like under Baath rule. Especially Syrians should know that this form of centralisation in Damascus, which stems from french colonial rule and law is ill suited for a country as diverse as Syria which borders where famously drawn linear by the french and british with no regard for religious, ethnic, tribal areas.
Federalization, semi-autonomous regions with Limited self-government for minorities like the Druze, Alawites and Kurds would be the sensible way to go. And it does not have to be a weaker state as we in Germany show with strong federalization not being less successfull then centrally organized countries like France or Britain.
It can even be beneficial as you develope multiple political and Economic hubs as Opposition to one.
Even Sunnis all over Syria are not that homgenous and would benefit from that approach.
So yeah, its just a big tragedy which has been looming for some while now.
After putting the Alawites and Druze in their place they are now striking against the larger and much better organized self-governing entity.
Many dead and possible years of further conflict will follow.
Some Info about politcal System, Education, etc. regarding SDF controlled territories as there seems to be a lot of Nusrafront brigading and Propaganda in the threads about this conflict:
I like that people in this sub trash russia/china along with leftist ideologies and are on the side of neo-liberals, but when it comes to middle east they somehow praise and disregard anything negative related to their favorite marxist group.
Disregarded child soldiers, disregarded female soldiers being used as sex objects, disregarded sniped children in aleppo, now disregarding arab majority cities celebrating and kicking marxist group out of their city.

SDF always throws me off for a moment since it’s also the airport code for Louisville KY. “Dang, Louisville looking rougher than normal…oh wait.”

I see that the Syrian civil war newest season is starting again. Really was not sure about the last season where they killed off the big bad in Assad.
But for real. Just when you think Syria might calm down
