How Trump’s promise to slash energy bills in half has failed across the US. On top of soaring electricity bills, US households have also been confronted by rising gas prices. “Instead of reducing electric bills by 50%, the president’s actions have raised the cost of home energy for all Americans.”

  1. I just received a notice yesterday that my utility company is trying to raise electricity rates by 13.4%.

Who would have thought that a failed businessman who bankrupted casinos would be up to running the world’s largest economy? That tells me two things. Propaganda absolutely works. Many people are stupid.

US electricity use jumped 3.1% to 135 Terawatts in 2025, and solar handled 61% of it (source: Ember, global ebergy think tank). Solar and wind are the least expensive ways to produce energy today. Unfortunately, Trump is anti-renewable energy, and anti-science, and has enected laws to hinder its deployment. So yes, wage war on the cheapest option to come along in 100 years, and you get rising costs. The rest of the world is not this stupid.

  4. Wait!

Are you suggesting Trump grossly overstated his ability to unilaterally throttle pricing across the energy sector of an entire nation?

    That’s crazy talk! /s

The worst part is, some morons actually believed his lying ass.

Trump was lying of course and his cult believed it…Americans had better brace themselves for much higher energy prices, coming no matter what flavor of politician is in power.

It’s especially ironic that with most new installed capacity being cheaper renewables, the shock is actually lessened by the thing he is trying to destroy. If renewable energy had slightly lagged behind by a few years, US electricity prices would be even higher.

In a real way, China is literally saving him from his own incompetence, but only slightly.

  7. This is absolute fake news. The truth is the complete opposite of everything this post says. The cost of every form of energy if less than it was a year ago

Electricity and natural gas rates in all 50 states is controlled by each states public utility commission and not by the Federal government. Isn’t strange that the states with the highest electricity kwh rates and natural gas therm costs are all controlled by democrat governors and majorities which is also in control of building new power generating facilities.
When Trump talked of cutting energy costs he was specifically mentioning oil.
The whole bunch of you need an education in the protected domains of the Federal and State governments.

  9. This is exactly why my home is now a multi family home.
My son and his wife and kids now live back home with me and i love having them all there with me.

Trump is not a math guy. He said, multiple times, that he would lower drug prices by 1,400%. So, to him, whether the prices go up or down, he doesn’t know what the difference is,, or he doesn’t even care.

  11. > US households have also been confronted by rising gas prices.

If it’s talking about vehicle fuel, this is wrong.

Gas prices dropped noticeably a few months ago, and are now significantly lower than in recent years. I was regularly paying 3.59-3.69 a gallon, and now I pay about 3.20 a gallon. It hasn’t been that low in years.

The article is right about household energy as a whole, but not about vehicle fuel.

  12. At some point enough Americans will figure out the only Winners when republicans are in office are billionaires and corporations.

  13. The presidents policies are hurting economics and industry, as well as pocket books, How is him choosing winners and losers acceptable?

Maybe it’s already time to impeach and remove him from office? He doesn’t seem to be making good decisions.
