    Labor should have never dropped those policies. They were not the reason they lost in 2019 – as thoroughly investigated by Labor themselves.

    Labor could also pick up Howard’s own cabinet papers anytime they want to.

    Now would be a great time to do it as well, considering there is no longer a viable opposition.

  2. The actual OECD report mainly recommends reducing planning restrictions, replacing stamp duties with land taxes, and improving construction productivity to make housing more affordable.

    Negative gearing and capital gains are barely mentioned. As usual, Greg Jericho has a narrative and is determined to stick with it.

    I’m fine with ditching negative gearing and capital gains concessions for budget purposes, but as study after study shows, these policies make a negligible impact on housing affordability.
