  1. This article cites that bullshit assumption by Demos that every seat will look the exact same as Hunter.

    Nice crap, Frank Chung.

  2. I’m not buying it. Voters ran screaming the other way when Dutton et al started making vague Trumpish noises; I really don’t think we’re going to lurch en masse even further to the right.

And when commentators make broad statements about ‘the Coalition’ (which doesn’t even exist right now), they fail to differentiate between the flailing Liberals and the Nationals, who have retained strong support in their electorates and their seats in Parliament.

The main thing I’ve never quite understood with this “One Nation rising” panic: what’s really the difference between the Nats & One Nation?

  4. I can see it….

The coalition (or whatever remains) is at the verge of complete collapse and nobody takes Ley seriously. One Nation is mopping them up.

You may think some would go Labor, and I’m sure some will. Though as a swing voter myself, I’m worried about Labors increasingly authoritarian policies. They are more extreme than any other party. One Nation and the Greens have even teamed up to combat them.

So it’s Greens on the left, One Nation on the right and Labor rising up on the authoritarian axis. Nobody is near the center.

For the record, I think that makes me a Greens voter next election. More as a tactical vote.

Why are they still being referred to as the ‘Coalition’ – thought the broke up the other day? If they can’t get that detail right, not sure how much stock I put in the rest of the analysis.

It’s interesting this recent coordinated push to make One Nation the great right-wing hope. Appears the sky gang has given up on trying to push the libs further right and instead are trying to make Pauline the new Dutton.

  7. I’m not sure if the rise of One Nation will continue if Ley gets dumped and Hastie takes charge.

  8. This is the ceiling of their popularity right now before the leadership moves to Hastie. They still need to keep banking those votes from Labor for the Coalition though

  9. If the media wills it…media coverage and these debates around “who will be the next right” are giving the ON more than the sum of their parts. They aren’t some rational, well thought out opposition. They’re a rabble mess that will be lapse with any more opportunities to lead

  10. The major parties need to act on immigration now. With the worsening housing shortage crisis, more and more people with be pushed to vote for fringe parties.

  11. I just like how one nation hasn’t actually done anything but exist and the media have done all the work for them.

Literally getting more popular by the day by no merit of their own, at all, in the slightest.

The powers that be are just willing this one into existence
