  1. He is trying to sit on the edge of a razor blade at the moment, the US is not reliable anymore and China wants to snaffle as much of our Industry as they can grab. Really don’t envy him at all trying to keep his balance so far he had done well but every day makes it harder and harder.

  2. Honestly, I think Starmer hasn’t done badly balancing between the EU,US & China. I certainly think he’s done better than anyone else would have.

That old Bevan quote comes to mind:

    >We know what happens to people who stay in the middle of the road. They get run over.

At the end of the day we are so lucky to Keir Starmer as Prime Minister, he’s going to walk the walk with China and I am confident having someone like him (a genuinely good guy) at the negotiating table is going to always put Britain first, yes it might mean sharing the spoils of something, like our natural resources or data of citizens but the payoff will be sustainable growth and investment from a world power.

I don’t want him to choose between, I want him to get the best for our country from both; and noone is better placed than a former DPP, socialist-at-heart, Prime Minister like Keir.

If there is one thing that has characterised the Starmer government, it is his determined refusal to take a stand on anything at all (except perhaps maintaining his position as PM).

Framing it as “US or China” ignores other options anyway. Aside from the obvious “go it alone” (which is dumb), there is also Russia (which is even dumber), and the EU. The EU makes more and more sense as time goes on in this mad timeline we live in.

  6. While this is the right move on a general level, he REALLY needs a better spin doctor to work on his phrasing of things, because my first thought was “How does the fence post feel lodged up there, Kier?”

Anyone who doesn’t see an issue with siding with China needs to do some reading.

Handling of Hong Kong protestors, enslavement of Uyghurs, persecution of citizens in religious and cultural grounds, suppression of political expression, repression of LGBTQ+ communities and NUMEROUS other crimes against humanity. These are things the UN has CONFIRMED China has done.

The situation in America is tumultuous, Trump is deeply unreliable – but the country he runs isn’t guilty of a single one of the crimes above. He will be gone in a few years.

China are literally one of the most evil regimes that has ever existed on this planet. Starmer refusing to castigate them is absolutely shocking.
