There’s a reason why quotas for traffic tickets are illegal in so many states. It puts pressure on officers to ticket people for no reason. ICE agents have to arrest a certain number of people to meet their quotas. They don’t care if who they are arresting so long as they can tick off a number they need to meet.

All of this bullshit, around 10 dead people, both immigrants and citizens, all of our taxpayer’s money spent, all just to… exert pressure on the government of Minnesota to give the Trump administration its sensitive voting date. And Minnesota still said no.
Between this and the debacle in Greenland, I feel like we’re shifting into the lame-duck era of the Trump presidency. I fully believe that he can exert more authoritarian power, and it’s entirely possible, if not certain that things will get worse before they get better, but I’m kind of stunned by how ineffective the administration has been here.
