And all of it more or less was built upon foundations of fear. Man, to be able to unwind all the BS that started after 9/11.

We didn’t need all of this to stop 9/11. 9/11 literally could of been stopped by mandating locking cockpit doors

***AND***…people need to go to ***prison*** (Miller, Vance, Trump, Rubio, Bondi, Noem, etc.)

  4. Yes. The DHS was established during the Bush Jr’s administration as a knee jerk reaction to 9/11. It was given a lot of power to police the country with little oversight under the claim they were protecting Americans and their liberties. Problem was it was given power to investigate Americans and ignore their liberties with flimsy reasoning or evidence and represents when the U.S. government decided they can spy on its own citizens whenever they felt like it. Its continued existence is a hold over of the War on Terror and really should be dismantled and its resources be put into other departments that can do what it does with better control. It is and always been a rapid dog that the government can release whenever they want and needs to be gone.

Justice for all involved with the funding, authoring, implementation of Project 2025 is the ONLY way we heal!

  6. Can we just chuck the assult on our democracy and freedoms, commonly refered to as the USA Patriot Act, entirely?

DHS was one of Bush’s dumber ideas. And that’s saying something. This is the dumb mother fucker who thought invading Iraq would cause the whole middle east to democratize. Gave us the no-child left behind act so schools dumbed down curriculum and just taught to the test. Who flushed a budget surplus down the toilet with tax cuts for the rich and increasing military spending, while talking about “compassionate conservatism” while cutting aide programs.

Never thought I’d see the day our politicians acknowledge this. Now let’s repeal the Patriot Act.

  9. This is correct. Everything from that Patriot Act era stuff should be tossed in the dust bin of history.

DHS was always going to become the facist arm of the government between its insane overreach and lack of oversight.

The problem is an institutional culture and won’t go away. It must be abolished.

Finally someone gets it and says it out loud. Fuck more training or budget reductions. ABOLISH.

Dismantle the post 9/11 surveillance state. It serves no purpose other than to be weaponized by fascists.

  14. If I remember correctly, DHS was brought into being after the 9/11 attacks. 25 years ago. How is it’s mandate even any different than those of other 3 letter agencies, especially the FBI? Should never have been created in the first place and has certainly outlived its original purpose and has morphed into an arm of the new authoritarian state Trump and Project 2025 are creating.

  15. Repeal the patriot act along with it. Get rid of the illegal wiretapping by the NSA and make it explicitly illegal for workarounds like buying the data from third parties like meta, Google, aws, and most importantly Palantir. Let’s throw this baby out with the bathwater.
